Pic Of The Week: Goodwood Revival

Mmmm... 1960s sports car goodness

It could be a bitter-sweet POTW for some today. It's the Goodwood Revival this weekend (which is pretty sweet), but the event is sold out for Saturday and Sunday (which, if you don't have a ticket but want to go, will probably leave you a little bitter).

In fact, the only day not sold out is, er, today (Friday), which is a bit late if you're reading this from your office PC.

Still, if you're one of 128,000 or so people who are going, then this photo should whet your appetite for the spectacle of tens of millions of pounds-worth of historic racing cars pounding around the magnificent circuit.

And if you're not going, well, there's always next year...

I went last year as a guest and although was not overly excited by the prospect did actually really enjoy the day. The best thing for me was to stand at certain parts of the track and watch how the older cars were muscled around corners in particular Fordwater through No Name. It has helped me improve my ability around the track to no end.
My Dad has gone today as a guest of his best friend and he was none to eager on the run up - I wonder if he will return a changed man as a result?

Came up the A34 from Hampshire late yesterday afternoon. A veritable cavalcade of metal lovliness heading south. Everything from a Ragtop Austin 7 with the roof down through Classic Bentleys, Astons, Jag XKs and Healeys to a Veyron

Love the revival. Going on Sunday. Wife's changed her outfit 3 times so far. I have yet to be at a Revival in the wet but maybe this year. A bit of damp could make the on track antics really interesting in some of these cars but I hope cloud does not reduce the ceiling for the flying displays.

Really looking forward to it.

Weather is looking fine for tomorrow, but, as you say, maybe a little damp on Sunday afternoon.

It was wet/damp in 2006 IIRC.

One of the joys of using the A272 for the commute to work is seeing the cars heading in the other direction to an event at Goodwood smile

So true, very sad not to be there this year, other unavoidable commitments got in the way, almost always the highlight of my year.

I've been fortunate enough to attend The Monterey Historics at Laguna but this event is on a short list of things I must do before the big guy punches my ticket. Hopefully we'll get to see some photos from some of the PHer's attending.driving

Mucho bowbow to the grey haired gentleman who was driving his hundred grands worth of '67 Shelby GT500 as 'ol Carroll intended, on the way back tonight from Goodwood at about 8.30 on the A3..... I was seeing 90odd at time on my speedo in the outside lane following the M3 that was folowing him smile...and I loved it when I pulled alongside to turn off onto the M25 junction, and he opened up those dual quads on that big block and spanked off back into the outside lane at a serious pace....

Sir, you're a hero.......
