Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 gallery dribble

GM provides a feast for muscle car fans with a load of new images of its new 580hp Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

The 650hp, near-200mph Shelby Mustang GT500 might have somewhat stolen the limelight from Chevrolet's forthcoming fast Camaro, but the new 580hp ZL1 is still a pretty dribbleworthy beast.

Especially since its 580hp, 556lb ft, supercharged V8 provides a 0-60mph sprint of 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 180mph, all for $54,995 (£35.5K in sterling-speak).

Anyway, we digress - because what you're really interested in, hopefully is looking at the following pictures.

So we'll shut up now.

I think you'll find that 54,000 dollars will become at least 54,000 pounds over here !
Nice looker though.

Driven a Stang and the new Camaro. Camaro is an infinitely nicer place to sit and to drive. I doubt the low volume, low rent Shelby will worry them too much at GM, against this.

Wow even the Bentley Brooklands could go faster with less power, so the aerodynamics must be pretty awful. Still, that's beside the point really. This thing looks great, but I can't help feeling I'd look a bit daft pottering around my village in one.

Loving the convertible, if the fuel prices were better in this country it would definitely be on the list!

As for the sliver tin top, all I can say is:

'book him Danno' !!

sat in a camaro in Disneyland the other year, very nice looking car and crazy price ($24k if i remember) but the interior was awful...dark, dingy and a complete let down after the exterior.

still, perhaps its changed since then and i bet this one is great fun anywhere, anytime.

Bit of a brute but I soooo want one. Probably not the most dynamic car but it looks as tough as Chuck Norris.

Pretty sure you can't - you're over $10k out. Still cheaper than the UK though - current one is about GBP45k

Surprised they don't do 'em in RHD for our brothers down under. There must be a market down there?

Chevy went out and asked all RHD countries how many RHD models of the SS they'd sell and us and Oz said "naff all". With GM having nearly gone under, it was too risky to develop any further and the RHD model was scrapped. Worst part is the chassis was developed with RHD in mind, so it could well of happened (and nearly did).

So we and Oz suck.

Having said that, it'll make a bargain LHD second hand as they are selling VERY well US-side. The ZL1, less so I suspect (it's more expensive than a stock Corvette) but that didn't stop 'em making the ZR1 and that's fantastic too (and proves that $100k is £100k).

I'm tempted to try and get one. I shouldn't.
