Geneva 2012: Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse

Combine a Veyron Grand Sport with a Veyron Super Sport and you get ... a Veyron Grand Vitesse

Another show, another nominal power boost and 'exclusive' colour option for the Bugatti Veyron. So what do we have this week? Well, it's called the Grand Sport Vitesse. It's two-tone blue. It's got 1,200hp. And it wouldn't be complete without some sort of superlative claim for 'my Bugatti's faster/more expensive/more exclusive than yours' chest beating, this one being 'world's fastest roadster'.

Based on the Super Sport, the Grand Vitesse does boast some pretty impressive numbers, like 0-62 in 2.6 seconds and 255mph top whack. Revised wind deflectors make, so Bugatti boss Wolfgang Durheimer claims, 180mph possible without your passenger even noticing. Might beg to differ on that one Wolfgang but, regardless, the new detachable deflector will also be available on 'regular' Grand Sports.

And that's it really. A slightly faster Veyron, this time without a roof and also showing, for the first time according to Bugatti, in what it describes as a 'brownish' finish. Not brown. Brownish.

I don't like weight in my cars, but a topless, extra power Veyron (because the basic hasn't got enough!), yes please.

To be fair though if you are spending all that money on a car it would be nice for it to be as exclusive as possible, I'm not saying the Veyron is common place - far from it but for a seven figure sum it would be nice to have something that nobody has / very few people have.

This car seems to be going the same way as the Zonda.

We all thought the last version was the last version until the next version is released as the last last version, until the next one!

And who the hell spec'ed the colours on the show car? Awful

All they need now is a Man City player to snap it up and job done

Is it me, or is the Veyron vulger? In some ways impressive, but has no class, no real style?

A supercar akin to a blinged up white Range Rover?

I don't like the standard Veyrons I thought they were ugly and boring but I actually like this one? Am I the only one? Now just to save up my pocket monies biggrin hahaha. I'm not a great fan of Blue but what they did here with it is actually o.k. ...... as Johnny from fantastic four would say "Flame on"

Edit - I really like this car, without the roof the lines from the front going back to the meet the top is awesome!

I actually quite like the colour combo....or maybe I don't think it's vulgar because of the Bentley 4X4 this morning?

If only the seats could be folded down to make it properly fast.

I want a basic veyron in dark green with dark red interior, and these power/weight upgrades.

They should stop sticking nasty bits (eg these wheels) on it.

There is something that just doesnt Gel with the Veyron, McLaren F1 every time and that isnt some raging Xenophobia, the Bugatti just reeks of rich but probably clueless, has to have the absolute fastest and most expensive wheras the McLaren to me just says well heeled Petrolhead. The Bugatti is fairly ugly and a bit chintzy where the McLaren is dramatic in a restrained and functional way. The whole two tone garishness, its like a massively expensive clock of dubious taste that isnt hideous but isnt that appealing either.

Not to dismiss the engineering, its an amazing acheivement, it doesnt make me want it though, not like an F1, F40 or even, weirdly, the pangs of want like I had when I saw a pristine Capri Injection at the weekend.
