New Focus hot hatch undercuts key rivals by several thousand pounds
The 250hp Ford Focus ST will cost from £21,995 when it hits dealers in June, with the estate version set to cost from £23,095.
Ford's pricing strategy makes it more than £3K cheaper than the £25,330 VW Golf GTI, and £2,840 cheaper than the cheapest Megane Renaultsport.
The three trim levels available are ST1, ST2 and ST3, and 18-inch alloys, keyless start, Bluetooth and DAB radio are standard even on the most basic model, while part or full leather, rain-sensing wipers, and keyless entry are all offered on higher-spec models.
I hope it doesn't weigh the equivalent of a small moon. I'm still hoping all this talk of cars getting lighter will filter down from the supercar manufacturers!
So £22k for the base model, or £25k for the St3 which is the one everyone will buy. Genius pricing is the term that needs to be used. Make the desirable car cost the same as it's rivals but advertise it as £3k cheaper.
Great pricing,a Megane 250 when it came out started from 21-22k,with discounts you could get one for 19k, fully loaded 21k (a total bargain),this seems about the same, don't know if Ford does this kind of discounts though.
Quite (Although a Ford salesman tried telling me a 3door was in the works). As much as I like Ford's ST range, no 3-door option will put me right off the new Focus, although with the new Fiesta being such a large(ish) car, maybe people going from the old Focus will go into the new Fiesta if they desire 3door?
