Pic of the Week: McLaren 12C Spider

Sunshine, an empty road and a drop-top supercar. Lovely

As what seems like the 15th rain shower of the day drums on the roof of PH HQ, it seems like an open-top car is a singularly pointless device in the British summer.

But the new McLaren 12C spider does at least get its hard top in place in just 17 seconds and, as the video McLaren released yesterday seems to suggest, looks like quite a hoot in which to hoon around, rain or shine.

So we thought McLaren's latest road car deserved a spot of POTW action. And if you're wondering what all the brightness in the picture is, we believe it's known as sunshine...

I agree with your there, too much light on the right side.

My lottery winnings would have always gone on the 458 over the 12C in coupe form but I think for the Spider version it would be the other way round.

I think the photo's been HDR'd to death hence the enhanced detail and a result in a 'fake' looking shot.

still an excellent shot none the less and an even better subject, I think this looks better than the coupe!

There's something not right about that shadow work at the back, particularly, the darker one that comes off the wheel.

Stops a bit suddenly.

I'm slightly surprised that anyone thinks that's an attractive car.

It might well be very good, but it's ugly to my eye.

They've used an off carmera flash at the front of the car to light the side of the car, but it wasn't powerful enough so they've lifted the shadows in that area of the photos. Because they've done that the reflections have been brought out quite a lot.

Having said that, I'd die to be in that position doing that shoot! hehe

I think I would have preferred to have the car on its own A great car IMHO
Better looking then the coupe sibling and not a lot of use for the UK.

wonderful looking car, and that colour is the best colour i have ever seen on any car ever. Even if this particular shot does look a little artificially lit

Marginally better looking than the hard top. But still not a big fan! 458 for me all day, every day!

Even by recent Internet standards that photo is crap, it's not even slightly realistic.
