G-POWER 600hp 1M Coupe

G-POWER sorts 1 M's chronic power shortage (eh?) with M3 V8 conversion, supercharged for further lunacy

BMW's 1 M Coupe was the fastest 1 Series ever - but it's still not fast enough for German tuning firm G-POWER. Their lavishly-named G1 V8 Hurricane RS is, they say, how the 1 M Coupe should have been when it came through the factory gates.

Obvious stripe joke is obvious
Obvious stripe joke is obvious
The standard 360hp engine makes way for a 4.0-litre M3 V8 unit that's been supercharged to produce 600hp at 7,800rpm and 354lb ft at 3,900rpm. The gunmetal 'pocket battleship' look is perfectly understated for autobahn-prowling.

Certainly looks like it's been geared for that: the DCT gearbox conversion delivers 0-62mph in a respectable 4.4 seconds, but 0-125mph comes up in a skirt-gathering 12.7 seconds, with a V-max of 205mph.

Other G-POWER accoutrements include a 20-inch Silverstone Diamond wheel set, G-POWER carbon fibre bonnet and boot lid, GM1-RS Clubsport coilover suspension and ceramic brakes.

Beastly
Beastly
No word on price, but we're talking about a genuine contender in the 'ultimate sleeper' stakes here - it won't be cheap.

I'd reckon wheelspin or gearing will be to blame for that...anyone know what the standard car does it in? I was also excited until "supercharged" and "DCT" were mentioned....so close to having that epic engine in a lighter body with a manual gearbox, but no. Sad frown

Probably the limit with the RWD and short wheel base chassis.

Only? 600bhp through the rear wheels only in a car thats not designed for it, seems pretty quick to me.

Dont know why people get so hung up on 0-60times means very little in the real world

Who actually does a 0-60 run, ever? The in-gear performance of this will be incredible.

Whilst I wholeheartedly applaud the lunacy of this I have to say that on the whole all of the performance figures are dissapointing.
I can understand the 0-60 time being limited by available traction but the 0-125 and VMax are less than I would expect of a 600BHP 1M.

Might 'mean' little, but with all that torque/power it 'should' be better than 4.4 - Surely not just a Vmax exercise?

Not sure which would be more frequent, refilling with fuel or replacing rear tyres.

Sorry, that is not a sleeper.

At the end of the day, a standard 1M Coupe is an impressively fast car. This just a souped up version.

True. A real sleeper has to slip under the radar.
However you could argue that if people think that this is a standard 1M - then it would still qualify as a sleeper..

I'm just not convinced on the stats - it seems to be slower than a current stock M5 - which is a much bigger car with less power.

I saw this today on the drive channel.. go to 8:10

someone put "8:10 Yepppp.. An abnormally loud new white M3 with blinged black wheels, a red rollcage, tinted windows and branded bucket seats is one of the best sleepers out there. I'm sure the police would barely notice it."
