If you have high blood pressure don't look at this

I posted it on the Grauniad thread from yesterday, but, as a 'know your enemy' exercise I think it needs its own thread. For some reason they allow this guy to get his columns published in said Grauniad, and I have to say that he's never written a single syllable I agree with, but he's the sort of moron the future, student-based, Liberal Democrat-voting electorate think has all the answers, judging by the response he attracts: www.monbiot.com
If you have a strong stomach (or happen to know where this guy lives), click on the 'transport' link. But don't punch your monitor, it's not its fault.
Lets just say this guy's somewhere to the Left of Stalin, and I can't read any of his stuff in one go without wanting to tear up the newspaper.

Ill-concieved Leftish populist dribble which relies on flawed data
Wonderful.
I'm glad there are peasants like this lurking in the undergrowth because when Bernard Manning finally calls it a day, extreme humour will be on the wane.
I love his ridiculous CV, his unfortunate ability to prevail even when faced with the more violent attentions of the assagi-wielding midgets of the economically oppressed peninsula of Umbuerto Gorge...

Perhaps, just perhaps, someone's trying to tell him something?

Hmm, that explains lots ...
I think maybe a well written and to the point e-mail highlighting out plight whilst acknolwedging his subsequent points of view and sympathising with his ideals while making our point firm and clear in a non-invasive manner.
Thus I propose the following.
"Dear Sir,
You are a d
khead.
Regards,

The one that cemented my hatred of him was the 'let's put black boxes in cars that not only tax you but prevent you from breaching 2 mph' article.
My biggest problem with him is that he's coming out with weapons-grade lentilism, all of which is theoretical, and to be honest, I don't even think he'd like to live in the kind of world he's proposing. I bet he'd try and make himself exempt. Scary thing is though, I know plenty of people who would.

I've read this guy's column a few times, and the first thing that struck me was that his writing style is pretty poor. Secondly, that his research sources are flawed (Transoprt2000 etc). Thirdly that his arguments are one sided, flawed, illogical and extreme.
To be honest, at first I thought he was some species of Conservative, being given a right-of-reply. A figure of fun for us to laugh at. This type of cant is beneficial, however, in that it brings into disrepute the slightly more realistic proposals that people sometimes make. Tars it all with the same brush.
The guy is an embarassment to the left.

Lets face some facts here.
This system will only work in a drive by wire car. So lots of cars would be exempt, just as older cars do not need to meet the latest standards.
Sometimes I think this continually screaming speed speed speed is going to backfire on these twits.
I have noticed in my neck of the woods that they are claiming that the average speed of vehicles is reducing.
So where is the comensurate reduction in crashes and deaths?
Eventually these morons will have to confront the obvious fact that the problem on the roads is not speed but a vast number of clowns who can't drive, have no interest in driving and therefore shouldn't be on the roads at all.
The reason many of the police and these bed wetters don't want to test all the road users and chuck the poor drivers off the road is because they might not come up to scratch.
So who is the selfish irresponsible driver now then?

" He helped to found The Land is Ours, which has occupied land all over the country, including 13 acres of prime real estate in Wandsworth belonging to the Guinness corporation and destined for a giant superstore. The protesters beat Guinness in court, built an eco-village and held onto the land for six months"
for six months

lifetime achievement award in order?
I'm becoming convinced now, that writers of this ilk (I won't use the word "journalist"), set out to shock or offend, because this way lies fame - think also Julie Burchill, Jeremy Clarkson etc.
If the guy had said "cars - some advantages, some disadvantages" nobody would know his name. It's possible he doesn't believe it himself but is courting controversy.
He doesn't represent the typical Guardian reader I'm sure of it.
