Aprenticeships
Discussion
Anyone know of any apprenticeships avliable in the automotive field? I am currently at university but its not really my cup of tea and have been wondering what other options are open.
Im looking more towards the mechanical side of the sportier end of the market and have a fair bit of experience as an agricultural mechanic. Also interested in tuning and modifying (rollcages, suspension etc rather than bodykits and neons).
Any idea on other options open to me?
Any help would be great.

Im not so interested in the competitive race side, although getting hooked up to the development side of a race team would be good. Anyone know of any short staffed tuning garages etc?
My ultimate aim is to gain enough knowledge to start my own business which people can come to for one off modifications or fast road/race preperation.

There are college courses available that will give recognised motorsport qualifications. There were a number of institutions touting these courses at the Autosport Show this weekend.
The only one I can bring to mind is Myerscough College near Preston.
Try Googling 'Motorsport Courses' there's loads of stuff to look at.
Students or tutors on these couses should be able to answer your questions.
Wish they'd been an option for me in the 70's.
Edited to add there is another thread on a similar topic going on here
