Hurrah!

Remember we discussed the old "clearing the calipers" thing?

Ah. Bugger.

Bugger bugger bugger bugger bugger.

And further more, bugger.

I tried 5mm shims. Not even close. I tried 10mm shims. No dice.

I can comprehensively say that 18x8 multi-piece Racing Hart CRs do not fit on a ST205. The brakes on this thing are stupidly big. This is only a bad thing when you have damn near 2 grand of wheels and tyres you're trying to fit.

Which is a shame, because they looked rather good. Flat spokes seem to be the problem.

Anyone got huge brakes and aftermarket wheels that fit? I'm open to suggestion.....

Tray a different offset or a wheel with a flatter spoke or more clearance from hub to spoke. There's a useful diagram you can measue up with on the Compomotive site.

17" KN Raceline RLR's and Compomotive Mo's fit over my 325MM discs and Brembo 4 pots with ease. Got a good 5mm free between spoke and caliper.

Bad luck chap

Cheers Matt.

I'm currently interested in a set of Kei Racing 'Force 10'. Spoke design looks good.

Not quite the same quality though.

Bad luck, but atleast you haven't offloaded the original ones yet.

Well yes, but they aren't exactly common in your neck of the woods are they? Just suprised to see it there...

True enough. It's a 35th anniversary 4.6 litre 1998 Mustang GT. Great engine. Handles like a barge.

And yet, somehow, rather fun.

Do bespoke wheels for road and race cars. The order form requires calliper clearances etc so they can make it fit.

LOL had this problem with the Scooby. Put on the Prodrive/Alcon Calipers and 330mm disks. Thought it was fine cos I had the 17" wheels I was supposed to have fitted brakes went to put wheels back on dam, spokes did not clear the callipers. so had to buy a set of 4 prodrive wheels too, im sure I have a warning about it on my profile.

Sorry shouldnt laugh, I know how bad it is.

As mentioned before Compomotive MO's clear quite bulky calipers better than most- well for VWs they do anyway.

Got a similar issue myself with my big Porsche brakes, of my nice selection of wheels only 1 set willl fit with slim spacers & 3 other sets wont fit at all, tho 1 will if I used silly sized spaceres, but thats a very bad idea for wheel bearing life- esp for track use.

Compo's look good. A touch heavy though I thought.

I really, really like the D1s Gaz, but 18x8.5 is too wide. I'd need to run huge tyres, and that might well ruin steering feel.

18x7.5 Force 10's look good. Squeeze 225/40R18s on.

Silver or dark and shiny?

On my old Sierra Cosworth I squeezed 355mm 6 pots under 17" Compomotive MOs! Beat that!

Mine have to be made from scratch- not from a 'blank', I'm also supposed to be the first person in the UK with the D1's.

Really? Are D1s not simply copies of the Arospeed RSGT

Seen a fair few of them.

On my 3000GT, I had the same problem, BIG japanese turbo brakes and no clearance... so....

I got the metal-file out... and rubbed a few mill off the calipers... start with a rough file, and the smooth it off.. and then paint the fockers... bang your wheels on, and you're off!

Stop messing about and just order a set of 18" Mo's in white - they'll suit the rally slag GT-4 perfectly

I considered the angle grinder. But we're not talking a few mm here. It's nowhere close.

Front brakes on a GTO are actually slightly smaller than on the GT-Four. It really is insanely over braked. This is usually a good thing.

Usually.

Besides, the calipers are almost certainly more expensive than the wheels. So I'd rather switch wheels.

Anyone want to buy a set of Racing Harts? Fits both 4x100 and 5x100....
