Power Tool Drag Racing

So you've not got the funds, suitable car or desire to get down to the drag strip to run quarter miles, but you have got a few power tools lying around in the garage right? Caught this on TV last night (over here in the US) and it looked an absolute hoot: all manner of power tools (running in 4 classes ) raced down a 75 foot particle board drag strip. ISTR the classes included standard & modified (which run without rider, and include electric tools ), ride-on and "anything goes" . Pretty much any tool found in the garage is permissable (rules don't seem to be a strong point of the competition ) suitably modified to propel themselves and/or a driver down the strip. Power grinders were popular, together with chainsaws and even fire extinguishers. The winner of the "anything goes" class ran the strip in under a second at a terminal speed of 125mph. Yep, we do that in Beaumont, Texas. It's all for charity and a great time. Some folks do get carried away by their competitve nature, but it's fun and games for most.
