Anybody got any recommendations?

I have seen figures of 50 quid per wheel bandied about by some, and told you can get a set done for 150 quid.

Sounds great, but only quotes I have had so far are a bit silly...

Spit & Polish - 50 quid + VAT per wheel
Lepsons - 65 quid + VAT per wheel
Wheel Refurbishing - still waiting on a quote.

Ideally looking to sort them for under 200 quid inc VAT.

They are 1 piece wheels, grey with a polished edge. Light kerbing on two, just peeling lacquer on the other 2.

I would give Bob @ Wicked wheels if you are in central Kent, goos but will cost you closer to £250 www.wickedwheels.co.uk/

Or Lepson's in Gillingham i think quite a few main dealer's use them they are not mobile though and you need to leave your car there www.lepsons.com/ again they might be a bit more pricey

Yes, Lepsons gave me the loony tunes quote!

Have I been misled on the "50 quid a wheel" price then?

I've used lepsons 3 times now on 3 different sets of wheels. Basically when I buy a used car, the first thing I do is have them refurbish the wheels! Excellent work.

They have become a bit of a victim of their own success; they're permanently busy and have put their prices up as demand has increased.

A lot of the cost depends on how you get the wheels there and how long they take; if you want it turned around in a day and give them a fully wheeled car it will cost more than if you get the 5-day deliver your own and pick up your own wheels.

I have not found a tyre fitter yet that I trust with my alloys, and so whenever I get new tyres I have them delivered and have lepsons fit them - it's at significant cost, but I have 100% confidence the wheels will come back as they went in - perfect!

So, they may be pricey, but that's because they're good. In fairness though, I can't comment on the other places as I've not used them.

I should add that Lepsons are about 3 minutes from where I work and 10minutes from where I live, so of course they have been my natural - and easy - choice for many years!

Wheel Refurbishing just got back to me with a quote of 45+VAT so the best so far (although they seem to think matching the powder coating on the wheel and the plastic centre might be a problem).

Have emailed Wicked Wheels and Pristine for quotes.

Thanks guys

I used Lepsons once and have to say that did a fantastic job.Yes they are expensive, but when I wanted a cheaper 2nd set refurbed, I tried someone else a little cheaper and regreted it.I saved £10 per wheel, but didn't get anywhere near as good a job done.

Lepsons
Email me for details as I won't go in to it on here for fear of them doing to me what I did to them (taking to court and winning) but in my opinion I allegedly wouldn't touch them with a barge pole and I have in my opinion allegedly got pictures (and the actual results of their efforts) which you are welcome to come to my house and see) to prove it

Sounds very dodgy..Lepsons have always been superb-I have had 4 sets of wheels done by them and they have been excellent each time. If you have truely taken them to court and won a case for poor workmanship then you have every liberty to talk about it (subject to the name and shame policy on this site-which you have already breached).

Yeah, as said above, I have had 3 maybe 4 sets of wheels done by Lepsons and I have been very impressed on every one. I have also had some wheels done elsewhere (by dealers on new cars for example) and the standard has not been acceptable; so you do pay for what you get!

If you had a bad experience with Lepsons, that is fair enough - especially if it is proven and been dealt with at court. It's just a shame to hear though and judging by my experience, is a case of breaknig the rule rather than the norm.

FWIW I doubt I will be going with Lepsons anyway as the costs are just too steep. I just missed out on a set of wheels/tyres for 400 that were in decent nick, bought some wheels that needed refurbishing for 250 or thereabouts, need new tyres (~300) and am looking at 200 + for refurbishing...

So a bit more than I originally budgeted for but that's cars!

www.wheelrefurbishing.com looks the best bet at the moment, although they have made noises about not being able to match the plastic centre caps with the powder coating on the rest of the wheels...

I used these guys to do the 200 rims, they did an excellent job, but as you say they don't do the centre caps as well. Plus you have to take the wheels to them off of the car which can be a real pain.

If anyone knows where I can get the centre caps done to match the wheels then let me know as I need to sort my winter wheels out.

They said they would try to spray them to match, but I want them to look as original as possible, all the same colour How do the other places do this then?

I still have the 15s on my car at the moment so not a problem just to drop off the wheels. Annoying though as the 16s will look great and they're just sitting in the garage at the moment

I just opened a new thread about this after I did a search with no results.

I'm looking to have some refurbishing done by these guys. When are you going to do yours? Perhaps you could let me know what they're like?

Getting them done as soon as, Mrs.NCOT is sick of them kicking around in the garage

The only reasons I am faffing are 1) centre caps possibly not matching 2) the fact I have to get four new tyres and dispose of the four old ones via ebay/tip, and whether I get the refurb'ers to fit the new ones or not...
