USA To Get Top Gear After All
...just not their own series

Off to the USA. Ish.
A few weeks ago, we reported that America wouldn’t get its own series of Top Gear because Clarkson refused to move out there for four months. Well, we’ve got good news for our State-side readers: you’re getting proper Top Gear. Sort of.
Rather than having an exclusive new series or more of the smaller 30 minute versions that are broadcast on BBC World; BBC America is going to broadcast all of series eight. It will be unedited from the UK version, so Clarkson's opinions on Daihatsu Copens might offend a few more people second time round...
It’s set to start on August 20th at 8pm ET. We’re sure Jeremy will be pleased…

Last i heard was October for the new series.
Clarkson explained on the website that it takes alot of time to make each show, that is why the camera work and editing is so good compared to the cobbled together "only good for the 5 mins they let tiff out in a car" 5th gear.

This will be a cash cow for BBC America (In the US, BBC America makes it's money just like every other network, they sell advertising) Will have to set up my media centre to do a series record.
Excellent news.

Although the 'staged entertainment' slots such as the road works, ploughing, robin shuttle were funny, I felt there was too much time given over to them and less on driving cars, even if they fast exotic cars that we can just over. Agreed the filming is stunning and I can understand why it takes so long to make each episode, so I hope that the Beeb keep the quality. I also think the Hampster accident did effect the filming schedule for the last series, so hopefully we are all back to normal again for the new one... Keep up the good work guys

ErnestM Of course you can avoid all the adverts if you look on, erm, torrent sites (apparently)

Some of those last episodes were so boring, it felt like they were just wasting my time by filling it up with stupid stories.
Show more car features even if it something lame, at least its not some poncy tv star talking about thier latest show, album etc, feels more like a talk show than a motoring show now.

Top Gear is more scripted than Eastenders, still love it though.

They should leave it exactly as it is.
But do a "making of" on BBC Three to use all the bits they cut out.
I just like the idea of the Americans getting that programme where they drove through the deep south and got attacked.

Tedious drivel, with a presenter who thinks he's God, Hammond who shrieks and thinks he's a smaller of version of Clarkson, and some weird fat gay guy. Plus someone needs to tell the cameraman or editing guys that dark crimson clouds look bollox.

But then... they did vote for (Sheppards) Bush.
