Stop Press....

...It fits. Project Retirement Rocket now has a 2.7 engine!

We wanted to share these pictures with you that have literally just arrived in the inbox.

Jonny Smiths All- Agro now has the 2.7 engine firmly wedged into the engine bay after much head scratching and sucking of air through teeth. Despite filming commitments for 5th Gear, he's managed to get into the workshop and get the PH Retirement Rocket project off the ground.

He tells us that he needs to sort the suspension to make the thing handle, and now there is talk of supercharging the old girl!

More details to follow, just one thing Jonny? Where's the radiator going?

Just another thing Jonny - why? Just because it can be done, doesn't mean it should. Celebrating all things naff about the British car disasters of the seventies and eighties isn't big nor clever. Please, let the Fifth Gear schedule stay busy, so this POS never gets finished.
To leave on a positive note... oh, there isn't one.

Oh, and Insight, you need rear-wheel drive to drift.

Speaking of which, do we know if his plans to make it RWD are likely to become reality? Seems like a huge undertaking, but would probably be worth it in the end from a handling point of view.

The boot should be big enough to house a very large nitrous bottle!

The engines facing in the wrong direction for it to be RWD...

Kinda too late considering the engine is mounted horizontally.

Well they will have to change that then, or fit the drivers controls si it goes the other way! Like those stunt show Minis.

Suggestion for radiator mounting: the van den Plas had a vertical grille which was even more tasteless than the original and should offer some more under bonnet space.

And obviously a touch of, err... class
