Vandenbrink GT Convertible Announced

Dutch Ferrari will be made to order

For when a standard Ferrari is a bit too average
For when a standard Ferrari is a bit too average
Not happy to announce they are working on one coach built Ferrari, the GTO, Dutch firm Vandenbrink has confirmed it will be producing a cabrio model, the GT Convertible.

The GTO was made as a tribute to the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, built on the 599 GTB chassis, and just five will go into production next year.

The convertible will also be based on the 599 and will feature a folding carbon fibre hardtop.

The car will be built only on special customer request.

There are no technical details of the GT Convertible yet but expect the same 650 and 750bhp engine options that will be offered in the GTO.

The company was founded by Michiel van den Brink with business partner Robert Koumans.

Its good to see that some old ideas come back, such as coach building on standard rolling chassis....
Obviously, some coach builders will not live up to the high standards one expects, but some of them, my oh my....think of all the Rolls Royce and Bentleys that were coach built in the 20s, 30s, 40s...
Have your car done by a coach builder, THATS luxury!!!!

Now that is taste.

I wonder how the classic market will treat Vandenbrink Ferraris in the future? There were some right gurners from the likes of Piero Drogo and Virgil Exner knocked out in the '50s and '60s that have held their value and raised £millions. Makes you wonder how the market will treat coachbuilt Ferraris that are stunning to look at, especially at a time when there don't seem to be any coachbuilders plying their trade any more.

It does look the nuts but it also looks like you'd poke your eye out on the A pillar every time you got in it.

Vandenbrink sure does have an eye for a line though. thumbup

That's all well and good when there acshly IS a chassis. My budget does not stretch to Ferraris, but almost every car I have ever owned is monocoque (sp?) construction, and I think the Ferraris are also monocoque, old coque. So things like this are less about draping an elegant body over a standard chassis and more about pimping your expensive ride.

I agree. wink
Totally different story, though.
The SSUV was sketched under the guidance of Victor Muller...

Now, I do it my own way with our own company, our own talented partners and our own vision.
The GT Convertible is just one example of what will be.

Another nice (although hardly groundbraking) drawing.
Not what I'd have given the budget, but a lot better looking than a Mosler or whatever.
Thing is though, when are we going to see any cars? You know, metal and rubber and stuff.

Compare this to a C6 corvette from the same angle, not much in the way of a difference except perhaps in your pocket!

(oh and trim and power etc!)

Somehow an elegant soft top looks far better/sleeker/curvier than any tin top.
This one certainly looks the mutts nuts.

Michiel- does "mutts nuts" translate into Dutch wink ?

Almost lost my lunch over their DB9 shooting break!
Their take on a Flying Spur Estate would certainly be the way to cross continents though! (Hints or Rover75 aside...)
