Handbrake Cable

On stripping the rear wishbones I have found that the handbrake cable is worn and corroded where it has been cable tied to the wishbones.

Has anyone had any success replacing their Handbrake cable using a standard Sierra item?
The TVR one is about £50 and it looks just like a Ford Sierra part which should be about half that. I’ve found a reference to it being off a Sierra Cosworth but no more detail.
Does any one have a good Ford or after market part number or details of which Sierra model/year would fit?

Yes, sierra cosworth cable.
I paid about 15 punds from a motor factor.

Thanks for the info, do you recall if it was for the early 3dr (85-87 i think) or the later 4 dr Sapphire Cosworth or are they all the same?

I think its the same.
Basically any sierra with rear discs.

So is the part offered by the likes of clevertrevor of superior quality or the same thing 'rebranded' as TVR?

Just been to the local motor factors, there is only one Handbrake cable listed for any Sierra with rear discs. Orderd it, £17 plus VAT will be in tomorrow. I'll let you know if it's the same.

Even the Motorcraft/Ford cable looks jank though,so if the pattern looks the same quality dont expect to much

i got my handbrake cable for aout £15 from www.breakparts.co.uk better then paying £50!!!

I also managed to make up a throttle cable for less than £5 instead of the £50 some people want...but then i suppose it is not a TVR special part now

It says there's two handbrake cables for the Sierra Cossie. Is that correct?

Mine arrived today - First Line copy part all looks correct, only visible difference is that the cable outer section does not have the plastic outer coating but I’ve seen some "TVR" ones the same. I need to sort out the Diff bushes before fitting so will find out for sure then.

In the list I saw there were only 2 different cables covering all Sierra models, all body styles and all years. One for rear drums and the one for rear discs which I went for.
