Pic Of The Week
It's a bit prettier than the Shed of the Week...

We know it's been a bit of a Scirocco overload this week, but this picture we took last week of a pristine Mk1 basking in the Portuguese sunshine at the launch of its successor was just too good to pass up.

Very smart, but it has that "I don't have an engine" look about it.

I see they deliberately chose the worst spec they could find to make the new one look good

Not really to my taste. Anyone got an alternative for this week?

Perhaps there should be two cars of the week, 'modern' dripping in carbon fibre and sportiness and then a 'vintage' car for folks to reminisce over!

That car is of confused vintage...
The valence with integrated splitter and colour are pre-77, the wraparound indicators and plastic bumpers are post-78.

Le Mans for another week then Well instead of moaning and not doing anything about it, here's a pic I took at Goodwood last year which I think works quite well as a background if anyone wants something different:

I had 2 of the lovely Mk1 Sciroccos....Scirocci... in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Both were really nice cars. Very practical, quite nippy and very comforable. But both had alternator and carburettor failures....
The best looking Scirocco, to my mind, was the 1980 Scirocco GLi. Not the slightly later GTi which had a lower interior spec.
The latest Scirocco is a distinct disappointment after the IROC show car.
If I could go back in time and have one of my old cars back, it would be TUO655T, my metallic blue Scirocco GLS with its black vinyl roof cap and sunroof, 4-speaker Blaupunkt radio and CB with combined CB/AM/FM aerial.
