I regularly see one of those General Motors DUKW 6-wheel-drive amphibious trucks being used as a tour bus in Dublin...I think they take it into the Liffey too!

I DO want that coffee table!!!

One of the Ferrari estates was at Goodwood last year - very nice in the flesh. But would you want to put ten bags of sand in the back?

I'd like the V8 coffee table too - very unusual.

Edited to add that there's five or so DUKWs running around Boston Ma running sightseeing 'Duck Tours'.

Looks like the coffee table is a one-off. Shame really, as I think it's really cool!

I saw the Ferrari estate at Goodwood a year or three ago. I'd sell body parts for one, but there are allegedly only 11 or so around, all made for the Sultan of Brunei. It really looks like a complete, whole, well-designed car rather than a lash-up job (E-type shooting brake anyone ) There was one for sale recently in the UK at some astronomical price.

Actually if you look in the coming soon section it says:

"Another V8 coffee table (for sale)"

May be worth giving them a ring. I think it would be expensive though. Over 30 man hours work for a start.

Love the coffe table - wierdly enough I've been going on about making one out of an A-series for a while - but that is so much cooler.

Doesn't look that hard to replicate - just need a knackered RV8 lump and some safety glass....

They do I've been on it. 'Viking Tours' run the DUKW, needless to say you have to wear a horned helmet

Wouldn't the weight of the block knacker that laminate floor? Very cool though.

They were the inspiration for the Frog Tours operating in London. The London vehicles, unlike those in Boston, had their bottoms plated and welded as well as being re-engined with modern Volvo units. The failure of the Boston operators to ensure a sound watertight bottom and an operational bilge pump tragically led to one of the vehicles sinking whilst carrying a full complement of sightseeing passengers.

It was an Arkansas DUKW which tragically sank with the loss of 11 people.

On the Dublin tour they were extremely careful about lifejackets, unfastening safety belts etc. and the vehicle only took to enclosed waters
