Company insurance/no claims mallarky

Has anyone here successfully negotiated the 'ex-company-car-driver' no claims minefield and managed to get their insurance co. to honour their true no claims period?

I had full no claims before getting a couple of company cars for 4 years. Now I can't get my insurance company to even make an effort to confirm my full no claims status with another insurer.

Cheeky bugger will only confirm 1 year which is the period of time since I got rid of my co. car. I can get my ex-boss to confirm that I never made any claims - will this make a difference? I can't believe that i've gone from 10+ years no claims to 1 year just because of a technicality

Any help would be much appreciated!

Ive done it before now but it depended on the insurance company. I previosuly had company cars with about 4 different employeers over an eight year period. When I finnally got my own insurance i shopped around for an insurance company that would accept written proof from each employer to confirm no cliams. IIRC Elephant and Tesco's accepted it.

Hmmm, i've spoken to Tecos on the phone before about this - I think they certainly gave a discount and took it all into consideration, but stopped short of actually confirming the no claims. Basically if I then changed insurers after another year i'd still only have 2 years NCB.

Took me a lot of phone calls and faxes but managed to get proof of 9yrs no claims. Your (ex) compainies fleet dept. should be able provide deatils in a letter of your claim history. Elephant and Direct line happy with this for me.

A pain in the a*** but worth it.....

Get a letter from your Company confirming your driving history, I did and all in all it was a pretty painless process.

Churchill used to do a scheme whereby if you got your fleet manager to write a letter confirming upto 3 years claim free they would give you the 3 years - provided you were claim-free and renewed with them the following year it then became a standard NCD of 4 years, if you left them they forwarded on the 1 years NCD you'd earnt with them and would also confirm receipt of the fleet manager's letter to the new insurer. As they are RBS Insurance now I don't know if this scheme still exists.
