Live Video Reveal: Compact Range Rover

See the unveiling of the new 'baby Rangie' live on PH - Thurs July 1st, 8.30PM (BST)

If you're not sure why the PH team should be interested in the new compact Land Rover LRX, suffice to say the production version is about to be revealed at a glitzy Kensington bash organised in conjunction with Vogue - and we've been invited!

In case your invite hasn't arrived yet, panic not. While we're quaffing fizz, nibbling canapés, and generally hob-nobbing with the rich and famous, you can be watching the event unfold live here on PH. Aren't we good to you!

The live launch is scheduled for 8.30PM UK time on Thursday July 1st, and the video feed will appear in the first post on the forum thread attached to this story. As long as PH site boffin RacingPete gets his act together, that is. (He hasn't got a ticket and he's looking a bit mardy, that's all...)

Saw the white prototype of this up at the Gaydon museum, never thought it would ever really hit production. I doubt the slimline flexy wooden seats it had will though..

I'm confused, is it a Land Rover LRX (as per the story) or a Range Rover LRX (as per the vid and the "baby rangie" title)?

Surely it's a Land Rover, seeing how Range Rover is just a Land Rover model (albeit one with 2 variants)?

I have seen one of the pre production testing cars on the road, it was black and had those white spirals all over it.

The shape was exactly the same though, it still had those swooping side windows with the high back end. looked nice, well from what you could actually see.

I see a fair few cars like this around Coventry, iv seen a few jags like this including the new 1 and the Aston DBS volante :O what a car!

I'm pretty sure that question will be answered tomorrow night.. but basically, both.

All Range Rovers are technically Land Rovers. If you look at the VIN plate, parts markings etc, you'll see 'Land Rover' everywhere.

Aye, that's what I said - they're "Land Rover Range Rover". But is this a Land Rover Range Rover LRX or a Land Rover LRX?

Is it a replacement for the Freelander or a Range Rover Sport Sport?

Confused... Maybe time will tell.

I get the feeling they may sell quite a lot of these.

Saw one of the prototypes at Goodwood FoS last year (or the year before) and it's quite a striking design.

Think it was badged as a Land Rover LRX then.

It doesn't matter a jot what badge the marketing men force upon the car - it's not a Range Rover.

It will be a Range Rover LRX by all accounts.

I like the look of this.

Current "sensible" car is a Qashqai, but this looks a LOT more appealing. I would have a Range but don't have room to park it, so these types of vehicle interest me.

Sadly I'll miss it as SLASH is playing through in Edinburgh, rather see him than another Slash 4x4

I hope this won't be a disappointment.

Actually, the only way this won't be a disappointment is if it transformed into an Autobot and told me it was sent here to protect me :|

Not as much a giveaway as the Range Rover signature floating roof though...

I fear that I shall be disappointed as it will be another example of a car that does everything for you. Auto wipers, auto headlights, auto gearbox, parking sensors, auto climate control, the list goes on, and for every extra auto thingy the driver becomes increasingly isolated and cushioned from the reality out side!

I saw several Lexus cars during thick fog without headlights as it wasn't dark, the lights came on when in a tunnel though, driver NOT in control of the vehicle.

Sorry for the bandwidth

rant over will go back to my basic Landy enjoy simplicity
