Can anyone recommend a small, compact, waterproof, rechargable, decent digital camera and where to get it.

I would also like the moon on a stick please.

You can get underwater housings for some of the Canons and Olympus Mju range - or Sony do a digital that will go five feet under www.dpreview.com/news/0305/03052801sonydscu30u60.asp

Then there's specialist stuff like Sealife: www.sealife-cameras.com/

You pays your money and....

Sony do a waterproof enclosure for their DCS range of camera's that is about £270 on its own but, if you only want to go to 5 feet then try this

Sony Dsc-u60 Cybershot Waterproof Digital Still Camera 2.0 Mega Pixel or I have a Canon Sureshot A1 waterproof camera 35mm not digital - 5 feet depth - for £55 inc

Try www.sailgb.com/sshop/prod_list.asp?cid=73 for the New Sealife DC300 Reefmaster Underwater Digital Camera 3.3 megapixel

Hope this helps

Ah - bought one of those for the last holiday. Have to say it was a right fiddle and I wouldn't recommend it. Good in theory, a right pain to ensure it was dry, too thick for the little controls on the camera and, to be honest, we got better results off a disposable Fuji.

I stongly recommend www.ewa-marine.de These cases were recommended to me by a pro-underwater-photography friend when I found out Canon didn't do a case for my G3.

(edited to add) As has been said already, these can be a bit thick and fiddly but are really the only option if you can't get a custom-case.

I used one diving in Hawaii recently and it was outstanding...

I would prefer the manufacturer's case if poss, but if they don't do one - these are great.

If you want a really good combination of camera and case I recommend the Canon S50 with the Canon case for it - a beautiful full-function camera and a very-good manufacturer's case.

These guys are specialists and very helpful www.camerasunderwater.co.uk

For digital camera reviews try www.steves-digicams.com - he is scarily anal, along with www.dpreview.com.

Cheers,

Joe.
