991 GTS Must haves

3 years for £499 from my dealer - wheel and tyre insurance (10 / 12 refurbs i think) on a new Cayenne with 21" wheels. I had two nails last year and the tyres are pretty expensive. I don't normally take unnecessary insurance on stuff but at £499 made sense and has been worth it.
That does sound worthwhile - thanks for the info.A couple of questions for those that have had delivery...
How are you finding speed bump, and clearance in general?
Second one, a bit more complicated and ruler neeeded, how big is the flat area where the front number plate bracket is mounted? I've picked up a small, but legal stick on front plate, just hoping it will fit the flat area....
Cheers

After a week with my 991.2 GTS C2 PDK, I love it..!
Porsche's revisions of the PDK gearbox seems to be making it better at each iteration, I swear the gearchange speed in this GTS is every bit as quick as it is in the RS. Not sure why the need for a normal mode on the mode selector switch though - lazy gearchanges, and coasting when off throttle isn't for me..!
Its early days with the engine, but it does feel stronger than a base C2S. It could be my ears playing tricks on me, but I'm sure the exhaust note has been tuned from a 3.0S, as it sounds deeper, and makes a wider range of noises.
In the normal PASM mode, the suspension feels really well damped, and never feels too stiff, but in Sport mode, even on a freshly surfaced A470, its too stiffly damped for my liking. Need to try the car on the Sport setting on some faster twisty roads to see how it feels.
The only thing I wish I'd added to the spec was either the bucket seats, or the 18 way adjustables - the standard 4 way sport plus seats don't allow any adjustment to the seat squab, and I can't get the amount of support I'd like.
I had my doubts over the carbon multifunction steering wheel, but I love it. It looks superb, and is great to hold.
I didn't spec chassis lift, and it goes in and out of my garage with a steep approach angle with ease. (A 991 GT3/RS won't enter the same garage without chassis lift activated)
A few irritations with the PCM interface though - You can't appear to charge your phone with USB, and listen to bluetooth music, and I'm yet to see any car manufacturer to get the Apple car play interface to work effectively.
So far, I think its a better car than the 991 3.8 GTS I had.....

I think I read somewhere that they did change the exhaust for the GTS.
It is a bit odd how when you use Apple Car Play you have to use it to play music or use the phone rather than the PCm equivalents but I'd rather have it that not have it.
Apple car play is a great concept, it's just not that well executed in the Porsche. Bizarrely, it works better and faster in a Ferrari 488, and I never thought that would be the case..!It is a bit odd how when you use Apple Car Play you have to use it to play music or use the phone rather than the PCm equivalents but I'd rather have it that not have it.

It looks great! Re the front clearance - would you please measure under the front centre for me? My BGTS had 15cm and was just OK so if this is lower I may have to get the lift. And IIRC you went for Sport PASM (-20) and RWS, but no PDCC - is that right?Porsche's revisions of the PDK gearbox seems to be making it better at each iteration, I swear the gearchange speed in this GTS is every bit as quick as it is in the RS. Hi Gorsh, front clearance under the centre of the splitter is 155mm. And yes, I have -20 PASM, RWS, but no PDCC. Save the money you had set aside for the lift on a seat upgrade..! I'm disappointed with the lack of seat base adjustment on the standard sports seats plus.Thanks.

Thank you, much appreciated. I already have the 18 way seats specified - and PDCC with the -10 PASM. Lots of our roads here in the IOM are bumpy, I'm hoping the slightly softer suspension combined with the PDCC will maximise comfort without much compromise on handling. Pleased to hear I don't need the lift.Palmball said:
Good update, and nice to read those points.
So, this is on -20mm suspension?! Wow. Whilst this has an almost perfect ride height, it's hard to imagine that the standard car rides nearly an inch higher than this.
I think all 991.2 cars have PASM as standard now, so it's 10mm lower. So, this is on -20mm suspension?! Wow. Whilst this has an almost perfect ride height, it's hard to imagine that the standard car rides nearly an inch higher than this.

Yes, this is std GTS -20, and it's stance is just perfect. As for the ride, it feels very nearly as firmly damped as a 991 GT3, just with less road noise..!So, this is on -20mm suspension?! Wow. This GTS has definitely got less sound proofing, as you can hear stones flicking up inside the wheel arches far more than you can in a standard C2S.
Regarding the ride height, Porsche quote std PASM as being -10, with -20 being optional on the S, but I cant find a new 911 that's available on standard ride height....Have I missed something..?
