GT3 - What wheel colour to go for...
Discussion
On a bit of a tangent - I have a set of all black mk2 alloys which I have been meaning to turn to oem silver. However, if someone already has a silver set and interested in a black set then a straight swap may be cheaper/more convenient. Alternatively, if someone else likes the OP's black with silver rim, and the OP likes all black, we could do a 3 way swap

Ha, ha, ha. I have a spare silver set to go on a Riviera Blue car but am not sure if I should just stick with the silver. They are pretty much for track only as they have Michelin Cups whilst the road/wet track are anthracite I think - dark metal grey at any rate.Too many choices and if it were a swap too easy.
Hmmmmmm...........

Iv just had the wheels on my cobalt blue 997.1 GT3 done in shadow chrome (same as the old E39 M5 wheels) by the wheel specialist in Glasgow. I will post some pics up tomorrow.
Wow. That's sounds interesting. I have an E39 M5 too and the finish brings out a nice liquid metal texture.
The only concern in my view is that the finish can be a bit fragile to knocks. A GT3 should not suffer too much curbing as it is not usually a daily driver, however when changing tyres you need to make sure your usual fitter is extremely carefull to not nick them. Once damaged, it can spread depending how well the chromium paint is applied.
Love to see the pics though.
Some pics would be great, is that the place up in ek? Be interested to hear your opinion on service etc as well.
Cheers,
Chris

Off out to take some pics. Yes it is the one in EK. The work they carried out was good however I would not recomend them as the customer service is terrible and my wheels were not properly balanced so had to go back to get then redone.
I think I will be trying the one in Cumbernauld as I have heard good things about them.
Pics to follow..

Pics as promised. Apologies for crappy iPhone pics will take some proper ones soon. I took some pics inside and outside as the wheel changes colour depending on the lighting conditions. In bright sunlight they look almost completely silver but in overcast and night time conditions they look much darker.
Let me know what you think.

They look excellent, really suit the car and finish looks good.
Just a little too "light" for my car I think though.
I popped into chameleon in rutherglen but they only do anthracite (or silver / black) with no different shades...
What's the name of the place in Cumbernauld?
Out of curiosity, are the Porsche centre caps standard? I have GT3 logos on mine but not sure whether that's aftermarket?
Thanks for taking the pics and lovely looking car!

The place in Cumbernauld is also The Wheel Specialist as its just a franchise. Its the Glasgow North one and the EK one is GLasgow South.Just a little too "light" for my car I think though.

Yes my centre caps are not standard. The wheel specialist colour matched the silver sections of the cap to the rest of the wheel.
As for being too light they do a similar finish to mine but darker called "smoked chrome". I went for the lighter colour so that it wasn't too far away from the original finish.
