Thoughts on buying a 997 GTS
Discussion
Haha. In fairness, I really like the RRS, but it's a very different item than the Porsche!
I've wanted a 911 for 30 years and I figure I may as well have one for a couple of years, scratch the itch and get it out of my system.
I've made the case that a GTS will likely hold its value better than other cars, but...women!

Thanks for the replies, all. Been watching YouTube reviews and they're all good! Was this close to pulling the trigger yesterday, when my other half urinated on my bonfire by suggesting it was impractical so we'd have to change her car and keep my S3 as well - which screws up my monthly budget royally. The real truth is she's just not a 911 fan and knows I've been looking at the Range Rover Sport as well....

Hey mate, if you're in london i'd be happy to take you out for a spin to solidify the case for you :P Watch this space - the battle is not over....
Here's a video of my car just after we installed the Sharkwerks bypass exhaust

Deffo recommend as this video does not do it justice!

My 4 GTS;
Alcantara, Centre Locks & PDK (to me the perfect spec & wouldn't change for a manual).
I wasn't really in the market when the car came up for sale, but when I saw it I did the deal quickly (probably a couple of month before I wanted to). Bought in October 2015 and had a major service done as part of the deal, along with new rubber. Its also under full Porsche warranty until January 2019.

I'm stretching the justification as it is, but that's when I knew I was just looking for the man-maths to work.

To the exact letter of the warranty I believe it would void it. No doubt however your OPC has taken a common sense approach to warranty work, which is good to know.
My problem with relying on such 'common sense' approach is that its generally ok for minor claims, however I wouldn't want to be in a position where something major went wrong, and Porsche had the 'ability' to void the claim based on the car being not as it was when the warranty was put on it, ie non standard.
Do sound good though I do admit. The exhaust button is the first thing I press when I get in mine (along with the 'sport' button) as in standard mode its all a bit.... whats the word.... dull ???

Here's my C2 Manual after I had it detailed last week...with the all important leather dash!
A C2 Manual is circa 100kg lighter than a C4 PDK (the PDK box is 30kg heavier than a Manual). That's a huge amount of weight that you probably don't need.
Just think of the extra weight of all that leather, my car handles much better with plastic A C2 Manual is circa 100kg lighter than a C4 PDK (the PDK box is 30kg heavier than a Manual). That's a huge amount of weight that you probably don't need.
These are great all round cars & if you fancy the occasional track day they are more than up to the task!
Here's a pici of mine earlier this month at Cadwell. It has the Porsche sports suspension/diff & Aerocup fitted + the all important interior leather😂
Seriously though, top car, consummate all rounder, all the 911 you could ever want or need...

Bought my manual GTS new in September 2011. Just as 991s were coming into the showroom so even managed a discount. Had a 997 Turbo before but the GTS is the best car I've ever owned - even better than my Lotus 340R http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/9.gif
I've test driven first gen 991 and second gen with the turbo, but still prefer the 997. Even prefer the older dash layout and it's the last 911 with a sensible handbrake.

Fantastic cars, try and find a manual if you can with full leather. I think a lot have been tucked away as future classics, which is a shame.
Personal choice would be a manual C2. I would imagine the best bet for tracking a car down would be to speak with the likes of JZM, Paragon, etc.
Best of luck!
