How do you block the frunk?
Piece of cardboard so it can't shut is easily enough. What are these garages you talk about though? Mine is still full of st from a house move a year ago!It won‘t latch itself unless you press on it or something would fall on it. No need for a piece of cardboard.
i have the flashing light Cteck connectors bolted onto the terminals and when I park it up I feed the connector up by the wipers and then I can keep an eye on the charge and connect it intermitantly as required.
I still leave the frunk open too.
For those who take the battery out... how do you stop the alarm going off? - I did this last year on the 987 but ended up having to pull the plug on the siren to shut it up

My old girls just passed the MFK (Swiss MOT) this morning.
You can read about it in my readers car thread

The battery on my 997 is out as I write this, never had the alarm going off when reconnecting the battery. Was your car unlocked with the remote when you went to disconnect the battery? The other option is to make sure that the key is in the ignition when you reconnect it.

This is something I've commented on before as it's tempting to attempt something like this myself but with zero experience most of the replies I got on here were do not bother and leave it to the experts. But it does seem to appear that you can have an engine with the Hartech goodies for much less than 13k depending on how much the rest of the build costs you. No comment from me on the robustness of a home brew engine build. This is all very recent so not sure how much action the engine has seen since.
One of the Hartech goodies missing I think is their work around the IMS and machining to fit the better version but not sure if that's relevant to this engine.
Relatively low miles around 50000 on the car and still needed new liners and pistons which we can assume was bore score but could have been for another reason too or just because the owner wanted to.
MOT history looks quite clean - J50 PCE
Only other thing worth mentioning is the car just misses the higher tax bracket by a few days being 1st March 2006. £395 as apposed to £700.

Hartech invoice says "Supply and fit", I wondered if it was either done as preventative maintenance which meant it was cheaper (as no damage had occurred) or if the owner removed the engine and stripped it down for Hartech thus removing a lot of the labour charges?
I think this can only mean the liners were fitted to the short block already supplied. Isn't that what they did on Wheeler Dealers? It mentions pistons were only supplied. So a bare block machined and fitted with their liners. Then a box of new shiny pistons supplied only is what I'd assume this to mean.
Although they also mention big end bearings so these could have been supplied only or fitted to the short block I'm not sure. If these were fitted implies the block had the crank installed with rods and pistons but for the cheapish total I'd say not likely.

thats cheap, such engine 4.1 alone cost a little fortune. No matter what is done to an ageing 996 or 997, it can’t be more expensive than the model up, in this case a .2 S. Also, outside of forums and the internet very few know what a Hartech rebuild is never mind a bore increase, so they just go by it’s age, mileage and value against others.
I can see the temptation and the man maths but I’m yet to see one advertised or sold at any where near the cost of the rebuild. Folk should fix these cars in the cheapest way possible.
