Has anyone else had an issue with the clock faces bubbling? I am on my second set of clocks now and these are doing the same thing as the last lot (about every 80K miles it seems).

Am I correct in thinking the silver faced clocks are in effect a sticker over the standard black faced clocks and as such I'd be much better off sourcing a black set this time around? Can't leave it too much longer as the speedo needle gets stuck on 150mph now the bubble is so big wink

Shame as I was hoping to see 250K on these as it would have made a nice picture!

This post is awesome on many levels, 1st off 220 odd thousand miles in a 996, fair play, best bit is that the needle sticking at 150mph is bothering you driving

It's a bit more than 220K in reality as this is the second set of clocks that have been in it so it had a hair cut when they were swapped. It's somewhere north of a quarter of a million miles now.

Still waiting for the bores to go oval/IMS to fail/gearbox to cry enough etc. etc. but no signs of that yet. Oil consumption is around 350ml per 1000 miles now so it's wearing but not very quickly. It's certainly not a standard car by any stretch but the engine and box are as they left the factory in 1999 and have never been opened.

I use it to commute around Europe so there is still ample opportunity for it to legally show 170mph+ on the dash smile

Best post I have seen for a very long time, brilliant! Adds some balance to the many m96/7 doom brigade.

Thank you I've sent him an e-mail, certainly looks the chap to do it and if I could keep these clocks that would be awesome as I really want that 250K photo! Hopefully he can turn them around pretty quickly as the car has a week off the road next month for planned repairs and MOT.

The only other sensible option is a new set but they're expensive at £800 and who wants to go back to zero? wink
