I've an LOI in for the car and IMO any dealer that's asking for a deposit is ripping you off because there's nothing to put the deposit to as the car hasn't been announced yet, and I've also spoken to many UK dealers and that's the general opinion.

So, save the interest on your £10k

No formal deposits...but "goodwill ones" taken...otherwise LOIs

Consistent message that availability will be heavily constrained...and 918 buyers have "right of first refusal".
