996 GT2 - YH03GOB (formerly 1SAP)
Discussion
Hi
I've made an offer on the above car and whilst undertaking some diligence came across a Google link to a thread about this particular car on Gassing Station, which has now been deletd. It was headed "Caveat Emptor Prospective GT2 Owners" and seemed to suggest there was a problem with the car that any prospective buyer should be aware of. The dealer that bought the car from BCA knows nothing about this (or any issue with the car) and and the HPI check is all clear. I also intend having a survey undertaken. Should I be concerned? Did any PH members out there see the topic or know anything about the car? All advice welcomed. Cheers.

I also followed the thread for a while. I recall the car had been involved in an incident referred to in this thread

Buying from a dealer that picked up the car from BCA. Aspect cars. It's listed on PH for £55k. Sounds like it is the same car that was written off - but why wouldn't that show up on the HPI check? Can't tell how badly it was damaged but from the earlier thread (thanks for linking) it doesn't sound good.
Very odd that it's HPi clear now when the insurance company agreed to write it off from the outset. That aside, it doesn't mean there's necessarily anything fundamentally wrong with the car now....but do get it checked out very carefully.
There will be other GT2's that suffered far worse damage that were repaired by the insurance company and kept by the owner that had the accident. It's worth getting any of them checked carefully.

I think trying to find a 996 GT2 that hasn't had a panel replaced is a bit like searching for the holy grail.
If the car has been repaired to a decent standard and it checks out after an independent inspection then I would be tempted to offer less than 50K for it. given its rather public history I don't think its worth 55K.
On a side note, whatever happened to Lonmans 996 GT2?

Rear panel took a knock but also the front near side had a heavy hit. The wheel was taken clean off. Presumably the car was also heavily tracked by the "wabbit" before she smashed it up on the road. Lots of references to seeing her at the ring. Guess this shouldn't concern me. Thanks to everybody for the help. Well done Gassing Station.
The car was for sale in March this year at 39k at Clinkard cars
No takers. I made contact with them and made a daft offer which was accepted which raised alarm bells for me.
They had it for an age.
Although this site has a lot of twaddle on it it's also a minefield of useful info. Be careful chaps.

It's just "mine" Ed (it's deep and full) If it were a minefield it would be a errr........ a minefield, with all that entails (fraught with danger and all kinds of sh*t that could blow up in your face)No takers.
