The verdict on the Spyder RS is lynch-pinned on how it rides on UK roads.
Porsche have stated that is it softer riding, as would be expected of a roadster - if that really works as advertised, then it will be vaulted to the top of the pile in terms of desirability, as its base will be broadened.
Nice riding, small, 500hp, sound, open top.
Don't personally think 120mph 'roof on limit' is really an issue on the road, even when you're on your own, and then for occasional use on track on a sunny day, take the roof.
I would view it as a miniature Carrera GT lite - but it is missing crucial aspect.... the manual gearbox... I still believe Porsche might address this in a final final model.
I have a soft spot for the Spyder - would love to have one for high days in my retirement garage, one specced like that Rubystar neo one above would be ideal. Personally think WP takes it too far.

If it was softer than the standard Spyder I would be very interested!

Yel I think he meant v the GT4RS which is somewhat hatsh as its meant to be.
Main reason it came towards the last on the Evo Coty 2 for what its worth.
Yes, softer/retuned vs 4RS. Main reason it came towards the last on the Evo Coty 2 for what its worth.
As you say everyone has was complaining about a track special not being great on crappy UK roads… I mean, who’d have thought it!

Also CAR vid says Porsche told them they set -4.0° on camber on the track capable cars
That explains why they wouldn't let the press take the same car on track and then on the local roads.Reminds me of the good old days when Ferrari press cars were 'fettled' with uprated engines etc. Full factory support teams accompanied the cars to tests with mechanics, engineers and plenty of very sticky tyres.
Unless I misunderstood the video, the Car reviewer said that they'd been asked by owners to put -4.0 deg on their GT4RSs. Not that the current press cars were set up that way.
I'd like to see them explain how they get -4.0 deg on standard parts

Cmon porsche it's 2023, surely u can do better than that roof mechanism.
2 mins to put up some tarpaulin
The issue is the engine intake, it takes up the space where the roof would go. I don't think Porsche had any other alternative option.2 mins to put up some tarpaulin
Supposedly the car was originally conceived with no roof at all...
The above review is a kind of boring, just exaggerating it is "only a boxter, yes the best boxter, but not a GT3"
etc etc
Then the ride quality, always complaining because of the bad British B roads. Do not hold the car responsible for bad roads.
Now we have the best engine in the best place, whats al that nagging about?
Really;
If you want a 911, buy one
If you want a 718, buy one
And drive it.
Both, the Spyder RS and the GT4Rs are a blast to drive, lets just enjoy !
etc etc

STG isn’t a Cayman Boxster fan as far as i can see.
Why anyone takes any notice of YouTubers is beyond me, they have the car for 5 minutes and move on. Seeenthroughass more like. And I prefer him than most of the others. Shmee150? It’s like hearing a car review from a financial advisor …

Any allocation trickling through yet guys?
Some cars have been allocated for Nov/Dec build, but only a handful. Word is bigger OPC's will get 2 cars, with the rest getting 1 car. No allocations at my OPC yet. To be fair they are very grumpy about it.
No idea if I will get one but it would help if Porsche would actually send some over to the UK
I have got an “ideal” spec but by Christ it’s expensive. Mine comes out at £165K which is exactly £65K more expensive than my last 718 Spyder. I am struggling a bit with the concept of spending £165K on a bloody Boxster however good it is. There are some issues for me. The Weissach pack is £9K which on the Spyder doesn’t seem to add much apart from some carbon frippery and you have to have it to have PTS so basically it’s the best part of £20K for a nice colour I also want heated 18 ways which are available but a no cost option over the buckets, normally they are cheaper, at least they get rid of the horrid two tone colored seats which I detest. I am not keen on the exposed carbon bonnet especially with PTS so paying for the Weissach pack and then covering up its most noticeable feature feels a bit silly.
First world problems and all that but I am wavering about the Spyder RS which disappoints me a lot. Perhaps it’s time to change brands.
