They are on par with the worst headlights I have ever owned (V6 Exige being a contemporary), I've ordered some LEDs so will spend some of the holidays installing them and hoping for an improvement.

I had a VX220 (and then a V6 Exige) and the VX takes the award for worst lights ever, but yes, the Cayman's are pretty poor. Luckily mine's a weekend car and so seldom driven in the dark. In fact it's seldom driven at all!

I've got a full set of Cayman R springs and Dampers: Can anyone confirm if they're a direct bolt in swap to a 987.1? No knuckle differences or anything?

Cheers.

Yup, direct fit no need for anything else.

Is it me or have the prices moved upwards? Ashgood had upped the price of their ‘R’ when I looked the other day? There has been a bit of chat lately about them being a good investment etc. or is it just a blip given such a narrow market?

Ashgood have had a white/gold 997.2 GT3 RS up for months, dropped it from £160k to £150k and have put it back up to £160k again. Maybe it's just a thing they do every now and then?

Thanks ever so much. All my research pointed that way.

Probably blasphemy in this thread, but I'll be DIY'ing it to Cayman R suspension spec. I'll pop the rear ARB on there and if I'm feeling flush chuck an LSD in it.

I posted this in another chat. Highlighted the relevant bit. That's a 10% hair cut without really trying and then shared all over social media so hardly kept quiet between friends.

Watched this yesterday. No idea who this Raj guy is.

In summary he buys a 996 Turbo S from Ashgood. And also gets it pre inspected at Northway.

Annoying is the constant detail blunders from Raj talking about the car at Northway. Example he asks if the 2 Turbos are the same size - after being stood underneath and showed where they are.

The car gets a reasonably clean report but with only 40000 miles you have to expect stuff like old tyres, top mounts and coffin arms. I'd suspect all the suspension is original.

What's surprising for me is he haggles the price down from 58k to 52k relatively easily. And that's why I'm mentioning it here.

Considering Raj said it will be his daily I'm curious why he didn't go for a higher mileage vanilla Turbo with maybe some new suspension and other work already done. Although it's nice to see someone buying a car to Use.

been in stock for approx 2 weeks according to sales guy .I enquired about it today .One thing is the front end with the mesh over the intakes ,it should have mesh behind them no sign of the original grills .Those grills by some dealers would invalidate warranty ,awaiting a reply back .Due Major service and then 2yr warranty applied the only other red one is JZM but is very highly modified and would not be able to able to apply a Porsche warranty

Hello,

is there is a going rate for a complete set of R shocks and springs?

40k miles on them.

Any thoughts on what they might be worth? They were working well on the car before being removed.

Thanks,

OT

I got a set with shocks and springs as well as some top mount hardware and rear toe arms for £550 but I think that was a bit of a steal. They did sit around on FB marketplace at £750 though. So that's my ballpark. (Mine reportedly have less than 10k miles on them, swapped out for ohlins)

Thank you. I have just been offered £500 for just the springs and shocks.

Long shot, but I'm looking for a (used) set of original Spyder wheels in 19". Preferably silver but I'm open to a set of black ones as well.

Nice but comes at a price and it’s had more owners than a 5 aside football team.

Considering the upgrades, this is better value than its headline price might suggest

This is currently £46,900

Has this price remained constant with no drops?

Just my personal opinion but I can’t see the point in buying an analogue car with an automatic gearbox.

Ok some may medically need a one pedal car but for everyone else what’s the point?

For me, you want analogue, you want interaction.

I used to think that, until I drove / owned one.

The manual ‘box on the Cayman R is sublime, even more so with the SSK fitted. Probably one of the best manual gear changes I’ve ever used / owned in a car.

The PDK in the Spyder really suits the car in my opinion, banging up and down the gears is sublime and in all honesty, probably quicker along a mountain pass than in a manual car. Stick it in Chrono + and the changes are super aggressive & fast and the noise is right up there with any road car I’ve owned.

So, I’m a convert to the PDK, if you’re looking for an ‘R’ or a Spyder, don’t discount it, you could be missing out on something you’d love.

Isn't the PDK a bit of a risk as most of these cars are now getting to the point that you cant put a warranty on them? At least with the manual you can take it to the local specialist to fix any issues.

I don’t think there’s widespread problems with the PDK but yes they’re more expensive to fix if they do go wrong. Not something I’ve worried about to be honest.
