There is a grab handle within the lining of the right hand side of the boot lid. I presume this is used to thrust the lid down. There is a knack to judging the correct amount of force to use and save touching a dirty boot lid or pressing down on it.

I'm having some trouble with my boot lid. Many times when I try to close it, it doesn't go all the way down. And when that happens I have to take out my keyfob and reopen it. It only closes properly when I give it a really firm press or slam it.

My dealer said this is the case with all cars. Is this really true?
Grab the interior handle. Swing down moderately and let go (i.e. "slam" gently). Never fails.
For the Froot, lower bonnet gently then push the badge until it clicks shut.

Lowering a window makes closing the rear hatch easier.

That works great for the front hatch for me, but the back one shuts nicer if I close it smoothly, gently but firmly in one movement. If you get it half shut it takes a bit more force to shut, which feels wrong to me.

This has got me scratching my head. Are you sure you're referring to a Cayman?

As has been said, i treat the rear boot closing process like a conventional boot. The front is drop down to the click, then palm on Porsche badge and push down.

Hi all,

I am quite fancying a new cayman S for my next car, now I havent done much serious research yet, but the finance rates quoted on the porsche website seem ridiculous (6.9%), has anyone got any examples of real finance rates that have been offered?

Cheers

Yes, 5.6% they will offer if you push - they don't offer it as standard but they have finance promotions on, just tell them that you got offered a better rate with your bank and they'll share it with you

cheers, is that typically as low as they will go? I've not bought a porsche before so dont know what is normal or not, I know I could do much better than 5.6% with the bank anyway.

Thanks again for the info

6.4% was being offered by my OPC back in June.

You'll find Porsche finance rates aren't great on PCP and certainly don't get as low as the likes of BMW and Mercedes who will regularly trot out manufacturer support PCP rates at sub 5%z

We did get 3% on a straight HP on a Macan GTS last year from an OPC but we were only borrowing £12k or so.

Best alternatives are Clydesdale who have some sort of asset loan product with a balloon or alternatively Halifax do c4.3% if you are an existing account holder.

I'm not sure whether you'd get better at OPC unless borrowing only a very small amount, Halifax do claim to offer as low as 3.3% however they offer me much higher than the rate mentioned even though my credit rating is perfect (checked with experian) and they can see I save a large proportion of my wages every month.

I had thought about writing and appealing but i'm 4 weeks from pick up now so i'll just take what I have on offer from OPC

Just out of interest, what is the standard time between placing an order and getting a date at the PEC? I'm getting loads of buyer's remorse about some of the options I've chosen but it makes sense to wait and try them in the flesh.

Similar for me last year for the 718 "experience", but the actual half day test of the car I was buying was a full 6 months after the order was placed, and I had to delay another 2 months after that, which was entirely down to me rather than PEC.

So I picked up the car from the Detailer's on Friday, Gtechniq crystal serum with two coats of Exo. And I've somehow managed to clock up 200 miles in her without really going anywhere biggrin Have to say it feels so good to be back in a Porsche after a miserable 4 months in an M3 over the winter.

I've been told that there's no need to follow a strict running in procedure by my OPC and just make sure the temps are up before giving it some stick ... that doesn't sit well with me so will probably wait until 1000 miles before I start pushing it!

Despite the general lack of love for Crayon on PH I've had nothing but positive comments from strangers so far, all of them asking what the colour is.

Pic taken after washing just now for the first time, last one I promise! Good indication of how dark Crayon starts to look in low light.

Hi All,

I am new to this forum but I have been following this thread whilst specking my new 718 Cayman. I have now placed my order for the below spec, I wanted to keep below £50k so I've left the interior as standard.

The biggest challenges I faced was choosing the colour and gearbox, after test driving both I found the PDK much more enjoyable as the manual felt very similar to my current manual TTS. I have currently added sports Chrono but i still haven't decided if this is necessary......i would welcome any thoughts, I won't be doing track days.

GT Silver
20" Carrera S Alloys in High Gloss Black
PDK
Sports Chrono
718 Logo
Guards Red Seat Belts
Smokers Package

I have struggled to find images of a car similar to the above, does anyone have a spec like this?

I think you'll likely get very different answers on this, I went PDK and Sports Chrono because when I was booting it after pressing the magic button on the test drive it put a massive grin on my face. I haven't yet got my car (just over 3 weeks left) but I have read others saying they don't use it. I wasn't particularly aiming at a budget though so not sure what I would sacrifice as I was over £67k on an S.

I won't be tracking

Haha, I will be ordering a snazzy interior and standard wheels, which will cost the same as your snazzy wheels and standard interior. Priorities eh!

Personally, I would add the Sports Tailpipes as I don't like the standard exhaust on the base model. The dual flute design looks way better and makes a big visual improvement to the car IMO. It's £380 in your choice of chrome or black. I'm not a fan of coloured seat belts so would forgo that to try and keep to budget.

Passenger Footwell Storage Net is free, so worth adding.

Hi Si-3PO,

Car looks great. Crayon is a colour you need to see in the flesh to appreciate it; pictures don't do it justice. Spotted a Crayon 991 at Silverstone OPC a few weeks back & couldn't stop looking at it. Crayon will be high on the list if I get a 718 GT4 allocation.

As for running in - I posted an article some months back quoting Engineers at Porsche factory saying to keep revs below 4K for the first 1800 miles & not to labour in the wrong gears too much. Thats what I followed when i had the 981 Spyder from new. Others on here will have different opinions.
