Again I have put my money where my mouth is and just over hauled the Spyder with solid mounts, engine mounts and Monoball toe arms etc.
it's quite a awesome drive now and you do it roof off ;-)
Is there a separate thread/ build thread for this, David?

Sounds interesting and surprised you went that way i.e. going away from originality.

This month's copy of Car magazine has a feature on the most wanted cars for 2015 and claims the Cayman GT4 has a turbo 3.8 producing 450bhp. Georg Kacher is normally very close to Porsche but not this time.

As the current n/a 3.8 produced over 400bhp with the power kit option adding a turbo to get 450bhp seems totally inaccurate - one would expect 550 plus if you look at other turbocharges engines. Audi claim 434bhp for the new 2.5 litre RS3 and 454bhp for the 2.5 litre TTRS. I really can't see Porsche putting more power in a GT4 than the GT3.

It just goes to show that nobody really knows what to expect for the GT4 - only time will tell.

My wish list is normally aspirated, manual or PDK option and 370 - 400bhp would be just fine. Bucket and club sport as a no cost option would be nice. Hydraulic steering and sub 1200kg are unlikely but here's hoping ...
sort of matches up to what the opc salesman told me,when i ordered it the salesman had just come back from germany for some training or something and told me he was was told by a Porsche engineer it was going to be the 3.8 engine from the carrera.
BubblesNW misses the bit that claims that all 2015-on 911s will have turbo engines; the Carrera will be a 2.9/404bhp, the Carrera S a 3.8/530bhp. That gives a big hint for the Cayman S (and will give Moosey an aneurysm). Plenty of room under that for a ~2.5l turbo four pot Cayman non-S. The GT3 stays n/a.

And the GT3 RS ?

I'm still with a V4 2.7 producing 450 BHP .. smile

To make half a V8 for the new Ferrari beater.

Here's hoping Porsche starts giving all its cars turbos because there aren't enough go-faster turbo cars around rolleyes

What we really need on British roads is faster cars, even if that means sounding crap and being impossible (and pointless) to rev out. I mean, I spend most of the time at WOT just to get my puny 300bhp car to keep up with traffic and reach our extremely high speed limits.

Sarcasm is fun sometimes smile

But I want this to be a track car.

And still a lot of fun on the road.

And also an amazing piece of modern and bomb proof engineering.

Which takes nothing away from anybody else's preference smile

I don't really see the room for such a car. Why compromise an excellent road car to make something that will still be slow, expensive and heavy on track? Better to buy a £30k track car, in my view. It would pay for itself in brakes, clutches, etc in a few years!

I agree, and so do Porsche.

Making a road car into a track car ruins a road car and is still slow on track.

My so called 'high spec' 14 plate Cayman S loaner has such trivialities as bose sound, dynamic lights, Carrera wheels, PSE, heated seats and rain sensors but a shiitty plastic dash and door cappings......talk about ruining the ship for a hapeth of tar....confused

Are Porsche going to keep the 911 Turbo badge/model if the whole range is going to be turbocharged anyway?

If the S were to have over 500hp, would a Turbo have to be 650hp? Some pretty crazy power levels.

And whilst the majority of recent 911s have morphed from sports cars into 'sports GT' territory, recent 911 Turbos have always been in this camp with their 'nuclear detachment'.......

Hey guys, as discussed in this and other threads I think there are two 981 based cars in development, one is gt4 and the other is the turbo, I don't think there is right and wrong, just two different cars. I think The turbo will be the mooted 400hp car and the gt4 will remain NA.

just had a call from my local OPC,the MD is currently at Porsche and has just had a presentation where the list of new models included a gt4.No details were given ,but it is definitely a gt4 with the announcement coming in february and deliveries in the summer. The only other info they gave is they expect the number produced to be similar to the 991 gt3.
So it's not a R or anything as has been speculated,it will be a gt4.

The GT4 will be made in the same numbers as the GT3?

Thats madness, I mean why bother? Surely theres a market for many more.

the spyder and the R were made as extra models to run alongside exsisting models with no restriction on numbers but the sales of spyder flopped(so did the 964rs)so less than 2000 produced.the R was more successful so hence some 5000+ produced
