Thanks.

The car was under Porsche warranty until mid-2019, so hopefully recalls will have been attended to.

No recalls for both of the above.

Welcome

I'd also recommend a GEO. Good practice - any car you buy. I wont start banging on about Aquaplaning just yet.

Perfect spec, you’ll love it! I traded in my silver 981 GTS for a carmine 992, and now wish I’d just got another 981 but in carmine… I even went to see yours at Harbour a couple of weeks back, to see if I should make the switch - next thing I knew, it was sold!

The noises the 981 GTS makes are second to none, and the way it drives is spot on - not too powerful you can’t use it all, but fast enough to keep up. Enjoy!

Oh wow ! Very interesting comment on the 981 Vs the 992.

I guess these 981's in the right spec get under your skin.

Did you have buckets in your 981 ?

Can't wait for Saturday now . Cheers

The 992 is much faster, but somehow not as engaging, and definitely doesn’t sound as good.

Yes, mine had buckets, which were great, but your 18-ways will be just fine, probably a bit more comfy on long trips. The buckets have a very upright (and non-adjustable) backrest, which you get used to, but yours would make a better tourer. And you’ve got proper climate control - mine had the basic a/c which means fiddling with the temp & fan controls all the time.

Mine’s still for sale with Targa Florio, they took it in p/ex, so I have no skin in the game, but it’s a fantastic car (even with the basic a/c!) if anyone else is looking: https://www.targafloriocars.com/used/cars/porsche/...

Pics when you get yours please!

I planned to go look at your old car on the day I had off but went to OPC Portsmouth first to see and drive the manual white car they had with ceramics and nearly there and then shook their had . I did say
For one I thought go check out the red car and once I drove it with the PDK and more spec I knew it was the one for me .

I'm a fan of bright colours so although the buckets in your car would have appealed the colour just didn't work for me so I didn't go see it .

Not even sure I understand climate tbh but good option to have.

For sure happy to share pics once I've got the car .

Tks for reaching out

The benefit of climate control is you can just set the temperature and let the car do the rest. There's no requirement to 'fiddle about' with temperature setting and fan speeds as the car will constantly monitor and adjust. For me a car without Climate is a deal breaker.

The Porsche system does seem to work particularly well. In my 6 months of ownership I think I've only had to press the demist button once (and it has rained quite a lot in the last few months!); the rest of the time it has kept the screen clear automatically. It really is fit and forget.

My Boxster is mainly a weekend and decent weather roof down car, so it would be a plus but wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. If I were buying a Cayman I would probably value it more.

After 18 years in the TVR world I see having an electric roof as luxury so I may need to recalibrate my expectations hehe

I did consider a Spyder but I'd decided I wanted PDK and of course PDK wasn't an option in the 981 Spyders.

Also I didn't want to faff about with a manual roof as I did on the 987 Spyder I had.

Clearly getting lazy in my now older age !

I’d say it’s the other way round! The Cayman’s interior temperature with a roof stays consistent (so you can set the heater temp & fan speed & leave it), but in a Boxster you have (for example) the heater temp & fan up high while on the move on a chilly day, then when you get into traffic, the fan’s still woofing out lots of heat when you don’t want it! The more sophisticated version where you can set the temperature in the cabin would do all that for you.

Gosh they’ve had that a while. I went to see it back in November when I got my 981 S.

Just a practical question regarding payment.

I will be collecting tomorrow and intend to pay the private seller for the car using my phone banking app. It's just under £25k. Should that be straightforward or do I need to do anything in advance?

I did have some reservations about going PDK, but having lived with one in all driving scenarios I would never go back to a manual now.

I could not be doing with the spyder roof, I see that as going backwards, admittedly faster wink

Just check your particular bank’s daily transfer limits if you are below it then it should be straightforward
If you are over the limits, be prepared to split the payment over 2 days or use a second account for the balance over the limit
Send a test transfer of a small amount (£1-£10) to the recipient account from each account to be used for the purchase and confirm receipt before sending the principal amount - to make sure there are no mistakes with the account details and you send the money to the correct recipient
