then the Spyder is not the right car to even buy is it ?
Having waded through 100+ pages of this thread for the last few days, I'm just wondering what you have against 981 Spyder owners/purchasers? My mother always told me that if I didn't have anything nice to say not to say anything at all.

Haha, indeed, I agree. Unfortunately, this forum, like in life has some nice people and some unsavoury characters who prefer to antagonise others. They're probably retired or spend too much time on here rather than doing something constructive!

Anyway, good luck to all those who are getting a Spyder, marvellous cars. The buckets, GT3 RS or normal buckets are no longer an option if speccing a car now. You will have to go for comfort seats unless things change.
I have just placed a deposit on a Spyder but this was I think an unsold slot that another dealer had rather than being another 2016 run. From what I know, there are still a few unsold Spyders in dealers so if you want one you need to phone around.

Much like the GT4, I think thats it for production with no plans for more cars. Unless Porsche officially announce more cars which is unlikely but with Porsche, you just never know.

I rang/emailed most of the OPC about 8 weeks ago. i then placed a deposit with the salesman who was most honest and seemed to actually give a st about getting my business. last week i got the email saying they had been allocated 2 more cars (making 4 in total now) and one of the build slots was mine. car is specced and 'locked' now to be built in january. i have requested not picking up until march to catch the new reg though, which i was told isn't a problem. it will just be a problem for me NOT going for it if it's just sat in OPC from late jan/early feb!!!

People buy these cars for different reasons. I will never track my car, and I care more about getting the extras I want in the car, rather than what other people think I should have, or even what's best when I come to sell it. I am not buying for the weight saving aspect, I am buying for the engine and chassis in general, but mostly for the look of the car. I dare say if i could have had the 918 seats - i would have taken them, but in the absence of them I have went for the 18-way adaptive seats, regardless of the weight.

Hardcore? Come on! A Caterham is hardcore. A Spyder may be the least comfort orientated Boxster, but it's - a million miles away from hardcore.

I fully agree. I am away at work for for 3 weeks from 5th feb though, so weighing that up with the new reg coming out 1st march, it makes sense for me to wait. if i wasn't going back off to work then i would of been there the same day it was available, and if it had been summer, i would have taken time out of work to pick it up at very soonest!

918 Seats aren't that comfortable for some shapes and they cost £900 odd too the standard buckets are fine and now can be heated too

Imo the 918 buckets especially at £900 extra and with no heating facility are inappropriate for the Spyder anyway.....the folding buckets were 'free' anyway.....a bargain especially considering they are c £1500 extra on the GT4....:confused

The 18 ways are an even better bargain.

If you'd like to see some pics of an Agate Grey car just hold on for one more day.

I am picking up my awaited Spyder tomorrow at 3.00 PM and will upload some nice pics asap.

Until then, here´s some teasers... wink

That colour and satin wheels look awesome together. Is that the smoked tail lights you've got on there?

Agate grey - stealthy! Like it.

I see that's in Stockholm- must be Ferrari UK price level over there with all the taxes?!

In Sweden, thankfully, the taxes aren't that high, but in Denmark and Norway they are totally insane....

I put a lot of goodies in mine and it ended sub £80k lick

Yes, I chose smoked rear lights, IMO they look better on the Agate. On the other colors I would go for the normal ones.

One more teaser of today....(illuminated door sills/carbon).

In my next post, probably tonight, I will upload some "real" pics wink

18 ways are also free - and must cost Porsche far more to make than buckets. Buckets are, like many things Porsche, priced as high as the market will stand - almost entirely unrelated to their cost.

I agree the 18 ways are good value at no extra cost. Be interesting to know their extra weight though with all those electric motors which does somewhat go against the ethos of a lightweight vehicle such as the Spyder........
