CR is one of the best cars I have owned for a road car.
the steering and 911 looks of the 981 is a non starter for me and the main factor to not owning one.
I also love the 987.2 looks and you can tell it's a Cayman, the 981 looks bland, it's lost the nice rear haunches and the front is pure 911.
the new car is also under powered and imo you may as well buy a basic 991, get the +2 and a real 350BHp, why own a Cayman over a basic 991 ?
My new 981 Cayman was £30K less than a basic 991. Bit of a difference, wouldn't you agree?the steering and 911 looks of the 981 is a non starter for me and the main factor to not owning one.

Typical MrDemon.
(1) A fully-specced up 981 Cayman S comes close-ish in price to a basic 911. Of course it does - it is some ways a better car and in some ways still inferior, so it is about the same price.
Given that ALL Cayman owners like to stress that the Cayman is different from, rather than inferior to, the 911, it makes sense that people might choose an expensive Cayman over a cheap 911 (which means a similar price for each).
I would not feel at all uncomfortable spending the same on an extremely specced up Cayman S (or, please please please, a new Cayman R/RS/GT/whatever they call it) as I would spend on a very basic 911. Different cars.
(2) A 981 Cayman (even with decent spec) is still far cheaper than a basic 911. Of course it is - it has a far smaller (and cheaper, I would have thought) engine and is a much smaller car. It is also towards the Porsche "budget" end of the spectrum...all things being relative.

who builds a good cage for the cayman? I have seen a few Cayman Rs with nicely executed cages but have not been able to enquire as to the installer.
Safety Devices are up there with the best so maybe a good place to start. http://www.safetydevices.com/Mermaid said:

I think I read somewhere in the last couple of years that a 997 turbo cost about £6k more to produce than a boxster. Not sure if that's complete cost including R&d etc or just manufacturing, but the mark up on a 911 is pretty amazing. Kind of try across the industry though, big cars don't fundamentally cost proportionally more than small cars to make. Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
