Cayman R - owners/buyers/mods
Discussion
I've posted a few times on this subject . I do really like the R's . A great balance of power , handling and size . I went 997.1 GT3 to a white R , then to my 991 GT3 and now back to another R . My view is 90% GT3 for 30% money and in someways it's actually more fun for road use .
I love GT3's and I love R's . R's just happen to be way more affordable .

Must have been a nice offer to buy it. Makes profit on GT3 able to buy stuff which is not for sale :-)
I was lucky that he was about to put the car up for sale just hadn't quite got round to it . So just right place right time . My aim is to break even over the long term on Toy / Porsche ownership . The last few years have been pretty good with no significant losses , but your right the 991 GT3 certainly bolstered the toy fund. So at least now there's some scope to cover a couple of loses should they happen over the next few years .
I'd still like to get into a manual Spyder for the summer should one turn up .
So fking tired of my dealer. they had my summer tyres and offered to keep em for free and give me a free tyre change when the time came.
I bought the cayman R in january with 5000 miles on it, been experiencing some squeaky brakes lately - so when i went to the OPC to have the wheels changed ( for 120 quid I might add ) I asked them specifically to make sure tyre pressure was right ( "but of course sir we always do that" )
get the car back end up paying for the tyre hotel anyway but hey ho, out on the road the car feels weird, call em up and ask and the service manager gives me the "they all do that sir" bks with sport cup + tyres they tramline and judder etc, ok but the brakes squeal alot " you have an R might be Racing brakes etc, very special car bla bla bla".
Anyway, closer inspection shows the pads are all but worn out, the discs are very rough and according to my racing friends this car has been tracked hard by the looks of it. And the pressure in the tires was ofc 1.7 and 1.8 way below what it should be.
Im a bit miffed tbh should I be accepting completely worn out discs and pads at 6000 miles? 3 months since I bought...

Worn out pads I can understand as track related driving can easily wear those out in a short distance travelled. The disc rotor is harder to accept as reasonable. Was this a race or track dedicated car prior to your purchase?I bought the cayman R in january with 5000 miles on it, been experiencing some squeaky brakes lately - so when i went to the OPC to have the wheels changed ( for 120 quid I might add ) I asked them specifically to make sure tyre pressure was right ( "but of course sir we always do that" )

previous owner ordered it for ring use only and it was meant to be sitting on the Ring year around for when they wanted a trip down there...
Dealer never told me this btw, I found this out after buying the car, I guess my point is that the dealer could have bothered checking this before they sold the car on or at least giving me a heads up "oh btw the discs and the pads are on their way out" when I bought the car...which was a 5000 miles "as new"
the discs are appearently shot because of really hard track use according to my friends who track their cars alot...

Def hard use, I run RS 29pads which are hard on disks but I have done 21k miles and my disks are still only 40% worn. I cant possibly know, all I know is that the discs are very rough and not smooth. They are done for.is there anything I can ask the dealer to do to try to remedy the fact that the car is pulling to the right on the motorway? Wheel angles settings or something else? Basically got a "sucks for you" when I tried to bring it up

Mrdemon, why are you advocating the RSS LCAS? The bearing of the RSS is ok but not as good as the Porsche bearings... not like you to recommend cowboy parts
Jens sourced me these:
GT3 RS control arms 1 Year old and in a good condition (but without the part to change the caster which I ordered new.
