Great review - have you got it yet ? smile
Original build date was December but having gone PTS am probably looking at March now. Would have wanted it after winter has passed so wouldn't even mind an April delivery :-) whilst still enjoying my current Spyder on the odd dry days between now and then

Same as yours I think Phil; White, PDLS, Black Leather / Alcantara with silver stitching, reverse camera, heated seats, cruise, climate control, bose, PCM, DAB.

Great to drive. It's the noise. It's sooo noisy!

You can only get the rear camera on the new Spyder and this is an option.

If you go leather / alcantara - is the whole dash leather including the centre section where the chrono is - Yes i believe this is correct.

Sports exhaust standard ? - Yes

Can you get rid of the plastic bits that are near the rear roof fins that say spider on them - can they be self colour instead (look a bit cheap IMHO) - I dont think you can.

Are the standard lights black bi xenons ? is the £ 477 upgrade just the PDLS part - i.e. bar the PDLS do they look identical ?. Bi-Xenons arent standard. Bi-Xenons arent standard. The two options are -

Black Bi-Xenon headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS)

Bi-Xenon-Headlights incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+) with dynamic high beam

Phil
Cheers thanks for that - I wish they'd stop doing this whole deletion of parking sensors for weight thing - bloody annoying smile

Let us know how you find the rear camera and if it was worth the option or not?

I doubt it's a weight saving issue (very silly if it was) - it's a case of offering that option on the front and rear aprons, which differ from the standard items - same issue on the GT4. They are simply (I think) trying to limit the number of unique variables on, what already is a limited production item.

If you want a 987/2 Spyder then now is the time to get one. Yes they have fallen just a bit as some owners are looking towards the 981 Spyder. Once this has all passed then i am sure they will climb in price and never come down. Cracking car and a future classic with a price to match. You will need 40 plus for a top spec car and perhaps even 50 plus in the not too distant.

I read somewhere that the Australian versions have parking sensors as its law. IF that was true then not offering the sensors makes no sense at all :-( Rear camera is a poor substitute IMO
Looked on the Australian site, but doesn't appear that parking sensors are included. Personally would prefer a rear camera to a rear parking sensor any day(my S has front and rear sensors) . The big plus of a camera comes when you are reversing into a blind space (into a road or in a car park for example)

I wish it had parking sensors and the camera. For me the camera is essential as I park it in my garage with other cars. It's simply nuts not to have rear parking sensors in my opinion. Heck I wish my racing car had them more than any other car I own.

I would choose exactly the same configuration if I ordered a Spyder today (same colour and rims, PCCB, LWBS yellow stitchings and carbon interior)...no doubt! Yes, the rear lights are smoke.
I will take it for a ride today, if I do I will take som pics and upload them this evening driving

The rear camera is a must! I read about the poor rear visibility less than one week before my spec was locked. I am very happy it wasn't to late to add this to my spec bounce

Why are parking sensors not available on some Porsche models, i.e. GT3, GT4 and Spyder. It's nuts.

Nothing to do with weight really. Like I say above they don't want extra variants of limited production models which have unique front and rear bodywork. They could, of course, make parking sensors standard on those models - but that isn't the Porsche way.... They would much prefer to offer a reversing camera - which requires you to buy PCM and/or a sound upgrade. OK if you actually are going to spec one anyway - but an extra £1500 or £3000 or so in total if you weren't.

Porsche don't give a flying fig about that sort of weight saving otherwise why do these models have central locking and electric windows both weighing way more than some parking sensors. If it was about saving weight why would they offer a very overpriced camera! Can surely only be because you are then forced into ticking other expensive options to get the required camera screenmad Margin Margin Margin far more important than any minor weight saving IMO
