Definitely - much of the weight saving is window dressing. That's why if people want sports seats instead of the buckets they should spec them, ignoring the marketing hype.

Shock horror 987/2 Spyder owners talks up the price of 987/2 Spyders. laugh
Yes I am a Spyder owner but only another 12 months and then another Atom for me. I dont think they will be hitting 50 by then but it will happen soon. (perhaps ultra low miles, top spec cars) I just love all cars for what they are and not just a one make person. Even when my Spyder has long gone I will still look back and say what a crakin car it was and worth every penny. Buy this winter as this is as low as they are going to go. Once all the 981 Spyders are all sold and collected they will rise in price even i blind man can see that. The high price of the 981 Spyder plus only about 200 in UK will always keep good 987/2 Spyders high even though i wont have one by then

I don't have one now but I still agree with the original comment.

If I was driving it exclusively I wouldn't bother either , however I'm going to have to share his one with someone who's got "form" in the reversing arena ! smile

You're going to be in so much trouble! Seriously if you are going to drive top down all the time you might well get away with it, but if you have the roof on, rear visibility is so bad that I hope you don't ever try to reverse park.

Picked up mine today. Absolutely delighted. Pity about the weather but still loved the drive home. Great service from Edinburgh OPC.

It's ok , her reading is even worse than her parking smile Hadn't really thought about the rear visibility until you mentioned it - you're right it looks awful and it also looks like you have a massive blind spot near the fins , Is this the case ? Also is the rear screen plastic or glass ? smile

I had a 987 Spyder without buckets. It didn't have the sense of being special and is one of the few reasons I replaced it with a 981 S. I was slightly worried regarding comfort but drove the Spyder with buckets in September at PEC and was surprised just how comfortable they were, along with the performance increase being from a league above. I plumped for them because I preferred the option of having them heated, especially important in Scotland. The upgrade to leather including the dash/doors with red stichting makes the interior feel very special. I spent a couple of hours in the sports buckets today and they were perfect.

The ride quality of the 981 Spyder is better than my 981 S with 20" alloys. Steering is a huge improvement and the extra torque makes it such a better car to drive already. Fingers crossed you secure one as they really are quite special to drive. I've always enjoyed my Edinburgh experience whilst dealing with Graeme and the service team. Really knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The black wheels look so much better in the flesh in my opinion too. Pictures don't do the car justice.

Interesting. I wouldn't have expected significant differences in terms of ride or steering from the S unless their was a difference in spec or tyre. True the spyder has a couple of tweaks which should improve the steering a bit. I'd be interested to know what spec your S had (standard/PASM/X73) vs the Spyder and what brand of tyre each used to see if there is a clue to the improvements there.

does torque make a better drivers car ? or just covers up long gearing ?

If you wanted Torque you buy a turbo no ?

My mate who says he is into cars, buys Turbo oil burners as he likes how they drive.
My other mate likes high reving NA engines as he likes how they drive.

It seems more and more people like more Torque so Porsche making the new turbo model should sell well ;-)

I must say for a daily a Turbo is great, but for weekends getting up the revs is better.
