Well after a 7 month wait, agony over the specification, worrying over price increases my Cayman has landed at the OPC! so looks like I'm picking up saturday lunch time!!
Fantastic ... those months waiting are now behind you, get out there and enjoy it. What colour, spec did you go for in the end ... I am currently in that agonising over colour specifically as I think most options are now pretty much locked.
I just talked with my OPC and was told April build for May delivery ... he didn't have a lock-down date and he said I should make sure he has my final spec asap just in case. I've seen this before with Land Rover; as they step up production on a new model more short notice slots become available. Or it could be that they are still going slow as they adapt the line for the new Cayman, Boxster and 911.

Nice spec, manual as well which I think is a great choice ... I've toyed with the Bordeaux and I think it will look good with the silver exterior. GT Silver

Give them a call and see what's up.
Given the fact that I've had to have an entirely new build of a 718CS due to poor communication from OPC, don't leave anything up to assumption. Open those lines of communication if they aren't.
Took your advice bud after emailing salesman updated me build complete 3rd February delivered to Porsche Aberdeen 17th February get it 1st March the first 177 days wait was easy the next 34 are going to be a nightmare lol to say I'm getting excited about it is a understatement Given the fact that I've had to have an entirely new build of a 718CS due to poor communication from OPC, don't leave anything up to assumption. Outstanding, and chuffed for you. My one looks like it will be 10 months from deposit received to me getting a car, having ordered in July. I reckon you timed it pretty well!Liam

Awesome!Same as me then - mid-feb delivery & 1st March pickup.
Our Caymans will probably be in the same shipment to the UK
Sorry for the slight tangent but drove a 718 BS for the first time this week on my local favourite mountain roads
Yes its not a Cayman 718 but to all of you lucky so and so's - you are going to get a superb car. Yes I think you'll miss the noise but there are so many +ves for the 718
There are things I liked / disliked vs my 981 to share:

There are things I liked / disliked vs my 981 to share:
Dislikes
- Noise - the howling wolf has escaped and run away........
- Rear - I am not the biggest fan of the rear end (i would debadge but eye of the beholder etc.)
- Electronic Hand Brake - oh yes my 981 has one of these terrible things too.
- No flat six exhaust crackle, farty bangs and pops instead
- Less refined engine on a bumble, cruise or on the motorway at a steady ....70 (maybe the PSE droning? but even in normal mode on the dial and PSE switches off, this was noticed on return to the 981 by both of us)
- PDK changing gears for me
- PDK lightning quick changes, paddles or full auto mode or a mix. (I do like the PDK a lot but also love the interaction and bond my manual provides between me and the car - plus it literally keeps me on my toes)
- Look at me loud start up and farty bangs and pops - very childish but enjoyable fun when in the mood (this one had PSE),
- Outright acceleration / overtaking, this thing will give a smile as big as Bagpuss's (especially with pdk/sport chrono and that little dial 3 clicks over and the little central button pressed....).
- LED lights
- Power and spread of torque (you have to look for lag otherwise you won't really notice as the car surges forward )
- New PCM screen / Interface / Phone apps
- New steering wheel with the dial (just lovely and a pleasure to use)
- Steering weight (it felt just a bit more hefty if that makes sense?)
- Did I mention the speed of the thing?
- Handling just carries over from the 981, can't fault it. You just arrive at the next hairpin a little quicker....

I am waiting till the 1st not sure what the difference will be between the values at trade in of a 66 plate 2017 and a new 17 plate 2017 but a 66 plate will be worth less
Mine comes in Feb, am having 17 plate as I assume 17 plate on 17 made car would be better on resale ?Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
