I think the warranty is not a good idea, having looked into it and some good advice here.
The majority of people seem to think it is worth having:

If I go ahead with the Aqua blue 981S I could get the warranty. It's about £2k for 3 years plus the cost of the 111-point check. My problem is that I'd then be dealing with having to use an OPC to service the car, along with silly advisories and clowning about buying unnecessarily expensive batteries, etc.

I think for a £25k car it will make more sense for me to use a respected independent.

Imho, a warranty isn't essential on a 981 like anything they have some weaknesses but generally speaking they are solid.

It's cheap for a reason on the 981, if you have a decent specialist nearby then they will have you well covered.
Does the 981 have the same crossover coolant pipe issue as the 987?

Thanks.

The car was under Porsche warranty until mid-2019, so hopefully recalls will have been attended to.

Just a practical question regarding payment.

I will be collecting tomorrow and intend to pay the private seller for the car using my phone banking app. It's just under £25k. Should that be straightforward or do I need to do anything in advance?

Thanks, everyone.

I did a quick online chat with my bank and I am okay up to £25k. I am also going to send £1 to the seller today to set him up as a new payee. Will be taking my phone, laptop, debit card and card reader (remember those) tomorrow.

Assuming a private sale, did you do a history/HPI check?
Yep, endless amounts of due diligence (full HPI etc) and also I spent two hours with the seller going through the history/paperwork and admiring the car itself.

Good lad, congrats! How is it?

The Yorkie bar is the new custard test for car purchases biggrin
I'm very impressed. Feels a lot quicker than the 2.7 and sounds great, too. The interior with the extended leather looks, feels and smells very expensive. The sports exhaust is great fun...And aqua blue is stunning in the flesh.

Sorry guy it's been a very long day!

The best car day for me and my godson who was good enough to share the day .

Very long drive back, then had some family things to sort out but I'm blown away with the car especially having tried sports plus !

Will update in due course as the wife is losing her patience with me now as I won't stop talking about PDK :-)

Just to add the days experience was amazing from the start:

Also congrats Paul your car looks amazing. Loving the Yorkie

Congrats both - lovely cars in properly nice colours too.

I know some on here get tired of the endless 981 loving, and it has plenty of downsides for sure, but I've had my CGTS for 2.5 years, 17k miles and 6 track days now and it really is an incredibly accomplished all round sports car.

Enjoy guys smile
Thanks. I went out for a dusk drive last night with the roof down and the sports exhaust on. On several occasions, I laughed out loud.

I'm using A LOT of petrol.

Latest news with mine, I have ordered the stalks for adding cruise control:

Looks like I will go to MLR Porsche in Stoke to get that fitted and coded, and while I am there I will have them look at the drain tubes and carry out the modification to remove the valves.

Never admit to 'cruising' in your Porsche. Not on PH anyway.
I did a speed awareness course this morning, so it will hopefully help to prevent further frustrations and also I consider cruise control to be a significant aid to safe driving when used properly. I started a thread about it here a few years ago and was quite taken aback by the ignorance about its use.

Aside from that, I am also intending to get CarPlay added to the PCM 3. Not sure what the latest is on that, does anyone have any recent advice, please?
