Cayman R - owners/buyers/mods
Discussion
According to Jens, it will be very similar to this:

That being said, the 987 R sound is in my opinion cooler and more mechanical than the 981, more induction sound too for some reason - and my friend who has a Cayman GTS agrees. We have done loads of back-to-back comparisons.
The GTS has a more synthetized and "generic" sound whereas the R sounds more organic.
So I cant wait.

are both the pagid yellows and blacks that squeaky? its embarassing alright not a big fan of that.
I've since bedded the pads in more and they have calmed down a bit but from what I read you have to expect squeal and it's guaranteed (and fairly loud..) below 10mph. I think I am ok with it as they are race pads after all but I can see its not everyone's cup of tea.Axel987 said:

Yes I like the more "honest" sound of the CR too. I'm seduced by the crackles and bangs f the 981 on short drives but overall prefer the noise of the CR. Make sure that it's not too boomy at low revs though, but if it sounds like that vid, then I'd be very happy with that as long as there was no boominess.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKmDj2vfbLk

A little over 370 bhp on a ( conservative) Maha dyno.
I realise there is a lot of enthusiasm for these power figures quoted but are these taken from an Independant dyno, they do seem very high. Mrdemon had his tuned hp figures verified on an Independant dyno with before and after graphs for his gen 1 which seems wise less there be any disappointment afterwards. I mean these figures aren't far off gt4 levels where the gt4 has 400cc more...!The only way to have some confidence in the numbers is to dyno before and after. When I modded my Boxster I used the same dyno, did a before standard run and runs at each stage and netted about +25bhp. I got a great plot of all the runs overlaid onto one graph which served as a really interesting comparison basis.

They have a Cayman R racecar with 385 bhp with similar mods but it also has some other stuff not really viable for road cars..
There are gains to be had, the 3.8 GT4 lump is probably in reality 400 bhp, and there are similar gains to be had there too.
Ehresmann have a 981 Boxster with a 991 GTS in it now, 450-460 bhp at the moment with similar improvements.
Look, there are significant gains to be had on both the 3.4 and the 3.8.
I realise its not for everyone and its fine to be sceptical, a remap and exhaust will liberate 350+ - but as MrDemon said in another thread he was actually quite bang on, the gains are in the manifolds together with the other stuff. It really frees up the engine.

Mate what you are saying isn't wrong but you changed your name to PorscheGT4 a while ago. the 3.4 DFI jump and the M96/M97 is apples and oranges, the engine already produces 350 bhp in the 991.

Haha, I kind of find him charming - just pick the informative bits in his posts and ignore anything you dont like. He does know a fair share re these cars, even though he is slow as a slimy snail on a track ; - )
Never argue with a pig - you both get dirty and the pig likes it!
That's a great quote!!! Never argue with a pig - you both get dirty and the pig likes it!

You have a knack for winding people up on the Internet but I simply can't believe that you're anything like your internet persona IRL. All the stuff you've highlighted above is totally irrelevant, regardless of whether it's true or not.Slow as a snail
