£78k is a joke bearing in mind 9 year old 981 GT4s can still sell at that.
Nothing new of course these figures have never been accurate metrics of true market residuals.
I always consider these numbers with more than a hint of hilarity. It does however leave me considering a little what the likely value of the 4RS will be in 4 years. Maybe I’m a bit naive but I guess I’d expect mine to be somewhere around list still (£132K) at that stage. After all we will be living in some kind of dystopian post ICE small Porsche GT era with EV as the only offering. Meantime, I’m going to use my car lots, run the miles on and generally have fun . Nothing new of course these figures have never been accurate metrics of true market residuals.

A yellow one coming up on collecting cars soon.
I wonder what an ECU fault is?? "A replacement engine was fitted under warranty by Porsche at 854 miles, following the first owner complaining about an ECU fault"finmac said:

I sent my GT4RS configuration code to 3 or 4 OPC’s yesterday in the hope of a build slot at some point in the future…..after all they are making a lot of them.
I was subsequently told allocations are all taken but would I like a really boring spec used 4RS over list price?
They say nothing in life is certain other than death and taxes. To this I would like to add the certainty that contacting an OPC sales team will lead to irritation.

Sounds normal unfortunately I was subsequently told allocations are all taken but would I like a really boring spec used 4RS over list price?

Oh my goodness you are missing the point. Your correct response is to offer to buy said overpriced secondhand barely used car on the promise, preferably in writing, of an allocation so you can order one to your preferred spec later.I was subsequently told allocations are all taken but would I like a really boring spec used 4RS over list price?

Once you get over that hurdle it’s all about negotiating the lowest possible overall cost to you to get what you actually want. Along with how big a slice of extra margin you are going to feed the dealer with.
Ask me how I know!

It is not an easy process and can at times be definatly deeply frustrating. Thing is, these are still very low volume highly desireable cars, thus, as many others have said there are hoops to jump through. If you can be bothered putting some effort in then wait till next round of allocations and hit the phones - you may find one - but be prepared to have to move fast with a deposit and also potentially take stuff you don’t want, like a low trade in price, a watch, finance or ceramic coating etc etc. If you can’t be bothered with “the dance” (and I would not blame you) then my advice is to buy something else potentially! I did the same last month and said I would trade my GT4 in to the dealer.
Got the usual spiel about loyal customers etc.
One came back to me with a slot if I buy a Taycan before month end which I gladly declined.
“Buy a Taycan” hilarious. Be cheaper paying overs for the Gt4RS itself….Got the usual spiel about loyal customers etc.

I’m too old and tired for this nonsense-
I’ll stick with what I have …. I’m confident Porsche haven’t
got a huge waiting list for £150k cars - they can do one
Looking at how full porsche Bristol was yesterday I would say they haven’t got much a of a waiting list for many of their cars. I’ll stick with what I have …. I’m confident Porsche haven’t

You could barely walk around their showroom due to how full it was.

So that clearly says the slots are out there and they are now looking for buyers to take them. Got the usual spiel about loyal customers etc.

On the other hand, if little else is selling they must do the best they can on the cars they can sell ???

I've expressed an interest in an allocation. Got a call from the OPC last week to say they have a 6 month old one they are selling for a customer that I might be interested in. Turns out to be very nicely spec'ed in my opinion, except not a colour I would likely ever choose. Priced a bit too high, but I got the impression from the dealer that the owner knows that. I was subsequently told allocations are all taken but would I like a really boring spec used 4RS over list price?
This meant I had a good look at what's available across the Porsche Approved network, and I was quite surprised at how much used GT4 RS prices seem to have fallen over the last couple of months.
I'm currently debating whether I really want a new allocation, should I get offered one, as used prices seem to be heading down to meet list prices. Getting an allocation to "flip" must seem less attractive now, as it doesn't look like a dead cert you wouldn't be out of pocket. I think I'm going to sit this out for a little while and see where prices get too when the weather warms up a bit.
