718 Cayman Spec & Colours- what have you gone for?

Nope - they push it because they (dealer) makes lots of money out of it
Not worth it imo
I agree. You'd be better of spending the £400 with a specialist detailer who would protect your paint far better than Supaguard. A colleague used to apply Supaguard to cars for a motor network a few years back. Said the cost (including labour) to the dealer was about £50.Not worth it imo
And now to completely contradict myself....
Wasn't Supaguard my OPC was peddling, but GardX (essentially the same thing). I wasn't bothered but haggled it into my deal for free.
Wow. I can't believe how well it repels water. Poured with rain the night I got my new 718. Went for a spin in the drenched motor the next morning. Two minutes later all the rain water had beaded off the car leaving it gleaming. I'm pretty impressed.

Just finalised spec with dealer but they are pushing hard sell on supagard £399 anyone else taking this sounds very expensive and is it actually needed
Different from my OPC who have stuck on the more expensive Swissvax, for £598.I've read differing reviews of different waxes, sealants and protectors like these. All in all they all seem to do much the same thing. My view is it does seem to better protect the paintwork and the shine apparently lasts much, much longer.
A lot of different opinions too on whether to accept the dealer's application, or only go to professional detailers, or indeed do it yourself. I figured I'd give the dealer a try.
My OPC offered me a last ditch discount of 50% on Swissvax but this was at 6pm the night before collection scheduled for 9am. This confirmed my fear that they only give the car a quick wipe without proper preparation.
In the end I had the full gtechniq treatment at an independent.
I was amazed that the new Booster roof was so absorbent, as if the factory don't treat it at all. After my 3 coats of sealant the repellency is now fantastic and the water beads sit on the roof forever, so I've bought a highly absorbent towel to dry it off.

You'll get free swirls letting the dealer deal with your paint - actually you'll pay for the swirls.I never let the dealers prep my new cars - they usually bugger it - better to DIY - about 2/3 hours and a few pounds worth of G-Technic sealant or the likes.

I'm still a while away from lockdown (I think), but think I've got my final spec as set below. Grateful for any comments?
2.0
Sapphire Blue
20" Carrera S wheels
Coloured centre caps
Standard interior
PASM
Sport Chrono
64 litre fuel tank
GT Steering wheel
Light design pack
Seat Heating
Smoking Pack
Passenger footwell storage net
ISOFIX Points
Navigation
What do people think of silver wheels against sapphire blue? I only ever seem to see them specced with platinum wheels, but I do miss having a clean silver wheel (my last 4 cars have had anthracite/grey wheels!).
Thanks.

It's the same as I've gone for; Sapphire Blue and silver Carrera S wheels on my locked down spec. I did switch between the silver and the platinum satin constantly, and I think both look great, but settled for the silver in the end. Probably like you because I've got grey alloys on my current drive (M235i), so fancied a change.Thanks.
I also went for the coloured centres.
There aren't many pics out there, but dug up a couple. Carrera S wheels slightly different on 981, but it's close enough to get an indication at least ...
Otherwise, the rest of your spec seems ideal.

Thanks, they do look good although I might start cursing them if I find the 718s give off a lot of brake dust.
Similarly to you I'm coming from a M135i myself. Borrowed a 718 Boxster for a day and confident that it's a great upgrade from the BMW!
Brake dust - I was advised by OPC that satin platinum would mask the dust & this was borne out when I viewed a 911 that had loads of brake dust, but only saw the extent of it when was up close.............Similarly to you I'm coming from a M135i myself. Interesting as I have satin black wheels on my 4 series and they are a bugger to get clean, the brake dust seems to really affect the satin coating. I'm thinking of going back to silverGassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
