Well all is good then? The GTS is a great car in either configuration, it's all down to your own preferences.
We recently sold my wife's MX5 2lt and to be fair it was a fabulous car in almost every way. I can't see anyone being disappointed if that was their choice.
Shifty, love your spec and attitude towards your car ownership but I'm well passed that so took the slightly softer route to keep most of the enjoyment whilst looking after my old bones.....

Iits interesting how even Porsche dual clutch PDK gearboxes have 'progressed' even since their introduction in 2008. Drive a gen 2 911 PDK alongside the latest 911 and its clear the sports car drivability has morphed into a rather more usable but less focused sythetic sports GT, although the benefits associated with the PDK have 'improved' partly through software......quicker, crisper changes with throttle blips on downshifts all flattering the driver....
Question is......how far are we off the 'seamless' gearchange with millisecond and ever faster changes with shorter throws......in contrast its almost laughable that both Aston and Lamborghini still retain their 'prehistoric' single clutch boxes in their considerably priced flagship cars.....

I have to say my GTS with PDK and PTV feels more of a competent sports car than my 987 ever was. It has a more rigid chassis (you can really feel this), much much better engine and exhaust noise, better body control and handling. The only area it falls behind the old car is in the steering, and for a sports car, that's a fundamental. Put the 987 rack back into the 981 and it would be no comparison.

and what is wrong with PTV? - the reason most people get it is to get the LSD.The braking system is viewed as the 'unfortunate' penalty.
Else you have an open diff and whilst the Cayman has plenty of grip and traction by default- it won't be the 100% you get with having the LSD.

My thought process also. The braking system is viewed as the 'unfortunate' penalty.

Call me old-fashioned, but unless I am about to go through a hedge, I don't want the car braking wheels to help me around a corner.
For me, the sacrifice of having that interference would outweigh the benefit of the LSD, although I see your thinking on it - the silly torque vectoring is the price you pay for the LSD.
I might think differently if the LSD were not (according to some) pretty much window-dressing in that it does not lock very effectively and doesn't last long if actually used.

I don't see how people can feel this, people have been saying this for 40 years lol
as for the "exhaust noise" is just sounds false and the burble over run and the way it's got holes in the cabin to let the noise in is again all false.
I think the burble over run would get on my tits.
it does here.

Perhaps it's not the engine/exhaust system at all, maybe that is silent?I bet it is some fancy electrickery linked to the hi-if system!

'Tis true that the LSDs in the current generation of Porsche cars are less aggressive and durable than those from say the 996 Generation and older, as a result of being used in conjunction with the electronics (so LSD actually doing less) and being more aimed at driver on-road safety and comfort rather than track performance.Wonder what the options are aftermarket? and for PDK?

Driven every variant of 987.1, 2 and 981 except the Boxster Spyder. The 981 feels more solid over bumps and surface changes. I don't see how people can feel this, people have been saying this for 40 years lol

Agree that the burble is a little contrived.

Yes, I got one hell of a good deal on the car and oddly that deal didn't come from my local 2 dealers!
