Great cars but I wouldn't run one without a warranty....ours is an S Diesel on a 17 so later than you are looking. Done 50k miles in three years but have two or three minor issues...none of which were majorly expensive but all were annoying. Last week we had the wiring loom replaced in the drivers door which was faulty due to water ingress which is a known fault apparently. Part was cheap (less than £200 which amazed me) but out of warranty I am sure would be expensive. Also have had a faulty imobiliser and a faulty sensor on the Air PASM both of which required recovery to the OPC..which were a pain but dealt with well by Porsche in terms of loan cars etc.

My first Cayenne - 2011 3.0d needed lots of warranty work including engine out job. Luckily all was sorted with Porsche warranty, and not really of any inconvenience to myself but just trying to highlight the need for warranty. I owned it for 4 years and approx 60k miles.
My latest Cayenne 2016 v8d has just started developing transfer box problems... possibly due to all the water on the roads at the mo. Owned it for just over a year and approx 13k miles.
It's an expensive car to run.

I was looking at these as a replacement for the Lexus but the above 2 comments have put paid to that. Can't stand the idea of shelling out £30k for a car only to be annoyed by minor but expensive issues.
The cayenne ii was the only vehicle I've test driven that came close to the fit and finish of the Lexus though. I was looking at a 2013 GTS.

EDIT: looking at policy the max labour rate is £60+ VAT so you would have to pay the difference if you take it to OPC, another option is to look at Warrantywise where you get choose a labour rate up to £250
Anyone know roughly OPC labour rates?

You can have a Porsche Warranty on a car up to something like 10yrs old and/or 120k miles. Needs to have a full OPC service history though I think.Talking about needing a warranty, Went to start mine this morning. Error with the Ad Blue saying car will stop working in 650 miles....FFS ! Booked in for a diagnostic appointment next Monday. Less than a month after it needs a new wiring loom.
One thing that is a potential problem with Porsche ownership is the fact the dealers are quite spread out so if you’re a decent drive away you need a loan car or as I am next Monday be able o hang around for a couple of hours whilst they diagnose what’s wrong with it. My OPC generally has loan cars booked out a month in advance so if you need a car that can be an issue.
