Front 7 x 15 Rear 9x 15. They have carbon rims, so they’ll be as light as a feather, I imagine the 7 x 15 fronts will weigh no more than 4.5kg, and the 9 x 15 rears 5.25-5.75kg ...

Edit to add, the whole wheel set weighs 19.8kg according to Tuthill’s website. So the above was a reasonable guess smile

For comparison, one 12” x 19 997.1 GT3 rear wheel weighs 14.5kg ...

Awesome! Those are truly lightweight wheels....
I guess 7" means 205 or 215 tyre and 9" 245 or 255, or thereabout.

Probably only a 205 and a 215/225 on the blue car… with far sidewalls. Not overtyred and a perfect figment.
I think that's just your imagination smile

Hopefully they also have near sidewalls to keep the air in on this side.

They’re 9” x 15 spec ST rims on the rear Chris. The car’s running on Avon CR6ZZ classic tyres.
They’re available in 215, 225, 245, 275 & 295.
I’d guess, but it is only a guess, they’re 245/60, though they could possibly be the 225/65 option.

I would love to try a car on today's classic racing tyres.

I'm glad someone asked this question, as I have a 246bhp rear engined car that weighs ~980kg, and I'm considering preferred tyre and wheel specs.

There's a good video here on whether wider tyres offer more grip

The upshot seems to be that in the dry wide = good, but in the wet you want narrower tyres. There's another good video there discussing profiles and driving performance of 17", 18" & 19" tyres.

AndrewD (or anyone else) - Do we know dimensions of the wheels and tyres proposed for the 911k?
I have a 1000kg car with 210 bhp which runs 6’s and 7’s. Tyres are N5 Pirelli Cinturato’s…I haven’t for one second thought the car doesn’t have enough grip. I’ve done a couple of track days in it, whilst I am not a driving god it’s great fun to drive on track for such an old car.

Can’t help on wider/narrower tyres…maybe you want a smaller contact patch for more weight to help displace water in the wet ? Winter tyres are narrower than summer tyres generally.

Not after the end of this year, there won't be any Avons to replace them with when they are worn out!

That blue ST rep is on historic racing rubber by the looks of it. How grippy are those these days compared to the past?

My guess would be that car is not overtyred.
Looks like avons i run on the 2.8,the rears look like my fronts 275x15,hard to see exactly. They are great tyres ,the side walls are spot on for control and wet grip.Biblical rain ,narrower tyres will be better for reduction of aqua planing risk, just wet roads grip is king in these cars.
Looks great with some proper high sidewall tyres,17 plus diameter just dont look right.

Richard is looking at tyres, not 100% settled yet that the K will be on the Avons.

Avon/coopers have been taken over by goodyear, and being closed down, very sad and a huge problem for the hillclimb community. They wont sell the company to the management either, big problems for historic racing also.

Yep, spent time trying to work out how to make Hoosier slicks work at the weekend so we can see if they'll work for next season when Avon is no more.

Sad news... What brands are used for classic hillclimbs and circuit racing in the US and mainland Europe?

Might Goodyear be thinking about rebadging the Avons (and be a road legal competitor to the Dunlop R). It would seem very odd to completely shut it down.

Goodyear might look at it in later years but only popular sizes if they do,pirelli and michelin have also stopped hillclimb tyres.Goodyear own dunlop now and shutting down the dunlop factory also. The A15 compound is fairly unique and not so easy to make,Bmtr are in talks with hoosier for a solution.

Oh no that’s rubbish - I run Avon CR6ZZ’s on my 2.7 RS (ish) and I absolutely love them - brilliant tyre - bummer frown

Edited to add - may need to stockpile smile

You can indeed

Front 185/70 VR15
Rear 215/60 VR15

Those are the sizes Porsche specced for 6” and 7” wheels in period.
