Bought this in 1999, advertised in the local autotrader for £5500, bought on first sight, as it was my first 911 i did not know much about the modal but on checking the chassis number found it to be a 2.4s, but the engine had been changed to an original 2.7rs, it had fibreglass front wings, bonnet, front bumper, rear wings, bumper and spoiler, the interior had a roll cage, it was a bugger to start as the cold start had been removed from the engine, any way here is a photo as bought and one as she looks today.
I'm sure I know that car, I coul be wrong but I am sure a friend of mine raced it in Scotland back in the mid-1980's?You might be right with that, i bought it from a chap in Bridlington, who used to work in the oil industry in Aberdeen and he had bought it from a chap that lived in that area who had done most of the changes from standard to how it looks in the first picture, i think he was going to do a few hill climbs with it, thanks.

I bought the heat exchangers of it from him for my 2.4T.
So thats were they went, it only had straight through manifolds on it, no silencers, sounded very nice but when i got it back home after collecting it in the dark, the wife who was driving behind said she could see the exhaust pipe's lighting up, some photo's of it in action would be great, they could have all the original parts from it, although i bet they will be long gone by now.cjb1 said:
BTW, mine has done 118k. It too drives as well as it ever has, it's not the mileage on these cars that matters it's the servicing, love and attention that makes them what they are.
Mine has now done 110,000 miles having bought it with 79,000 on it in 2009 - it's currently in for some rust work and its major service but I miss her so ...cjb1 said:

My friend Brian Burrows had that car built to S/T spec ( I think by Tuthills ) he spent a fortune on it ( way over a hundred grand). I drove it when it was for sale at "AutoClassica" (no longer trading) in Knaresborough some years ago. Brian's quite a collector - he's owned seventeen 2.7 RS's - thirteen of them at the same time - an impressive sight !Just noticed you mention you've owned it since 1999 so I may be mistaken - if it's not Brian's car it's certainly very very similar !

Hi, you have a good memory, i have spoken to pit stop and they remember the car very well, they have some photo's which i will post up if i get them, its a small world we live in. I have a couple of shots DRY704K in it's Stratabit livery somewhere, I'll post them up when I dig them out.
The following history of the car since my ownership is what i can remember and have picked up along the way so it may be wrong, i advertised the car for sale in the 911 porsche world magazine due to the fact that the mot was due to run out soon and i did not think i would get another years ticket on it due to the amount of work and cost required, plus my first born was on his way, well i got a lot of interest on the car and a chap from London phoned, i cannot remember his name but he told me he designed record covers for some big names and his partner had something to do with the guinness empire, i never met the chap as i was paid via bank transfer and 2 chaps drove up with a trailer to collect the car for him, i heard that it had been restored at great cost for Brian, then Neil Primrose from Travis had owned it and it had done the tour britannia a few times with him and its next owner, i cannot remember his name, but Sean Lockyear who sold a few cars from near Skipton who also did the tour britannia had advertised it a couple of times, the last time i saw it was last year being advertised by Paul Stephens who must of sold it as i have not seen it since, its the only car i've regretted selling as these cars only come once if your lucky, but the car as it is today is a long way from when i owned it, it does'nt even have the external oil filler flap anymore which is a shame, i bet his got that cold start working.
