Paying more doesn't always buy you more, while well known guys charge more, some actually do less and we are not just talking about painters ... there are lots of good mechanics, welders, upholstery makers that haven't got a name yet or historically they have been in the shadows (shed based) but are very eager - if you can find them then you will be able to put more dosh into parts or do more on the car. For the record my painter quoted 5k for a full glass out respray and he is very very good as he does a lot of proper classics (that's where the initial recommendation came from). My mechanic just did my full suspension for half the quote of a well known shop.

Hi, I'm picking up my car this afternoon.
I'm not sure how to PM on here... Please can you give me details of your mechanic.
Cheers
Sunil

This ^^^^. One of the biggest rip offs I suffered (Well my insurer did) was a very well known Porsche approved outfit. There's loads of small outfits that can do an equal job at half the cost.
OP....... The reg on your 964 isn't H142DPN is it?
I can recommend you a paint shop that are unbelievable good value compared to some of the figures mentioned on this thread (just had a colour on my Lotus and a few mechanical bits done at the same time), but I think with them being Leeds based, they might be the other end of the country to you...
Hi Chaps,
So drove back from the garage... Wow hot hot hot feet! I had both blowers replaced as well as service etc.
Had a scan on the net and it could be the case that a couple of £8.00 pipes have failed.
Also, it's a very different drive to the 996TT, lots of noise, brakes feel sh@te compared to PCCB. Not sure what to do!
Any ideas ?
Cheers
