Hi

I've just bought an SC which I'm going to make into a bit of a retro track car type thing, it's from California in great condition but has no interior. I think I'll upgrade the brakes I've heard I can put Boxster brakes on, is this a good idea?

Other things I'm going to do, engine is getting top end rebuild, 964 cams, new exhaust system and PMO carbs. I'm taking the impact bumpers off for fibre glass ones, new interior and sort out the suspension and bushes. What should I do suspension wise? What other upgrades are worthwhile?

I know these cars are appreciating I will keep all the bits so I can make it original again if need be one day.

All suggestions are welcomed!

With some simple mods they are fun on track, but the most obvious omission on your list is an LSD, which makes a huge difference plus get someone with suitable 911 experience to set the geometry.

I was advised that as I was losing some weight, the standard brakes in good shape and with decent pads and fluid will be fine on track. Mine has Motul 600 and DS3000 pads, and no problems to date.

My SC has been done on a budget but has lightweight bumpers and seats, Bilstein Sport dampers, 27mm rear torsion bars, super pro bushes throughout, and 7&8x15 Fuchs which are both lighter than 16s and lower the gearing. My engine is standard apart from backdating the exhaust with SSI heat exchangers which breathe better and save some weight at the back, together with ditching the air pump.
Thanks I was planning on getting the geo sorted when its done, good point re the LSD I'll add that to my list! Do you know how much your car weighs?
