I've had three 550s and a manual 575, dearly loved them all but anyone willing to pay this kind of money for one is truly mad. smile

"Boss, were struggling to shift that 550, what do you think, shall I put it up £25k?"
Not the best colour combo or spec ( no quilted parcel shelf, leather headlining etc etc) !!

Wonder what a blue / creme would be worth with the same miles and good spec !!

I keep thinking about selling mine but every time I look its gone up £20k ... madness

I suspect it will probably be the next Daytona, it could be because its winter but there are hardly andy for sale, it will be interesting to see what happens this summer ( i.e. number of cars for sale / v ones that actually sell !!)

Yes just checked. There are only 6 RHD and 7 LHD for sale. 550 is definitely flavour of the month. Not surprising as it's a relatively practicle, useable, classic supercar.

Its interesting times for sure for 550 getting following they deserve as they do have the 365 GTB & 275 GTB bloodline 'style' and I guess the guys who are in their 40\50's see them as their 'poster cars' from 20 years ago can now afford them as a personal indulgence and hence are buying pushing prices.

that said i have met people in their 20's or 'yoof' to us lot who also appreciate the looks / style.

now then 360 CS or 430 Scud ?

In a world where a 328 is over 100k, a 550 for proportionally not much more looks good value.

Not at all, drove it hard, enjoyed it for a year, if I still had it and it was astronomical value then it definitely would not have been enjoyed or used in the same way. I'm glad I got to enjoy it at at the right time before the world went crazy. smile

I still use and enjoy my manual 575 despite what its value might or might not be.

The cars not changed, it's a state of mind.

Ha! 'twas ever thus.
It's also the reverse - "it's different this time and we're learned our lessons from the past". Question is when does it go down and in what way (and where would the bottom be). People saying a burst is imminent are not going to pull the market down at all - so in a way it doesn't matter about them saying it. The people following the advice of it not bursting and assuming it will continue up and who buy at the top are the ones in big trouble potentially.

The article is interesting. But when reserves are set too high, as they generally have been at auctions over the last 3 months, it is no surprise that cars haven't sold. Less to do with a 'collapse' and more to do with greed.

I might be wrong, but doubt there are anywhere close to 3,000 Dayotnas in existence .....

I may also be wrong but I don't think millionaires were being created at the rate of over 200 a day previously, either.

Sure but still same number of millionaires for the daytona and the 550 - doesnt mean the 550 is not mispirced vs a rather rare car atm

The Daytona is about five times the price of the 550, so I think that reflects the difference.

Given there are something like 1,300 F40s, by your logic they shouldn't be a million........

Small point, but an informed person at Ferrari believes today there are only c 800 road-worthy F40s left in the world, inc US spec.

Struggle to believe the above stat. unless they are referring to the garage queens / museum cars that have haven't been driven for so long that they are technically 'unroadworthy' without some form of recommissioning. In fact it would surprise me less if someone said that out of the 1,300 cars produced, only 1,500 are left wink

Intrigued to know where said informed person believes the other 500 have gone?
