You're right, according to the blurb... "Fits all Lamborghini Gallardo vehicles (2003-2004) First Generation 500HP"
They never responded to my email whether these would fit 2008 Gallardo, which I sent three days ago. Also sent an ebay message and asked if fitment is guaranteed. I think they would fit but i am very new to these cars so am not sure. But their lack of communication would put me off buying from them. In case the fitment is not great, it would be a nightmare to return them. I know how much of a pain these non-fitting exhaust can be. But at least, I dont have to be lying underneath the car.

I also cancelled the Larini sport cats order as I was in two minds whether to go decat and tubi or not. But now, the more I read about decat fumes and lack of low end torque, I am concerned that these would bother me if I use the car regularly. Also, I dont want the car to be a boombox. I like loud but tasteful exhaust mods. My G82 M4 was obnoxiously loud and its not a great sounding car at all. I realized this on the day i sold it as it was driven away by the buyer.

I have a bit of time as I dont even have the car yet.

I am sending emails all over the place looking for a cheaper alternative to larini but got no answer from anyone. Have requested quotes from profusion and powerflow exhausts and I guess I need to make a bit more effort and pick up the phone.

I can see the only real option is Larini cats (or similar). Anything else is either a risk to your car or a hassle (with MOTs).
Yea, I agree. A couple of weeks of obsessive search for alternatives, and Larini is still the best option, I guess, both catted and catless. But man the catted are serious money.

I didn't get a reply either so have written them off. IME places like this respond better to a phone call than an email so I'm going to give my local Powerflow place a call next week... they made a lovely straight pipe for an Evora I had so I'm going to presume that a 200 cell cat or two isn't out of their remit
I got a reply from Larini and they would do 10% off the 200 cells as long as they are bought this week.
I would be very interested to know how much powerflow will be. Please post here if possible or pm.

Got mine from Kline
Hello mate. Where did you source it from and if you don't mind me asking, for how much?

My insurance company never asked (Elephant) and I got a quote less than £600... as for storing outside, I'd consider sticking a cover on it but even if I didn't I don't think there'd be any issue at all
Man, I am 47 years old with >10 years no claims and no convictions living in Kent. But the lowest I got was £1200 for driveway and £700 for storing in garage. My G82 M4 starting with 500 a year when brand new and steadily increased to 1200 by 2023. I am not sure what i am doing wrong.

On another note, service manual that i could find.

I dealt with Felix who owns Kline directly via email. He will ship directly
Thank you. I have contacted him and waiting for his reply. I think of all the complete exhausts, Kline is the best to my ears and it looks great as well.
Did you get the cats and exhaust both from them? Can I ask how much it cost? It looks like their products have gone up in price over the years.

I used to have a Larini clubsport exhaust on my old Gallardo Performante, and it was amazing, and well worth the cost (about 3.4k ish) approx £600 to fit it, if I remember correctly (summer 2019).
Thanks. I think thats what I might end up buying (200 cell sport cats). Larini catback is also the most reasonably priced. But for pre-lp, it doesnt have the high pitched sound as some of the other (e.g. kline) does. But then I have only watched videos.

Dear all,

Can I please get your thoughts/advice on my situation?

So I bought the car from a trader on condition that a new clutch will be installed. The car has been paid for in full. The dealer is >250 miles away from me.

Monday 7th, i was told the clutch has arrived and car is going to supercar clinic in Bolton. The potential date for all work done was last Monday. I followed it up this Monday and was informed the car is still with supercar clinic but no update whether work has been started or how long its going to take. I have asked the dealer a number of times to request for a time frame so I can make plans, take leave off work etc. I work in a hospital and on call for 24 hours a few times a week, including weekends. Arranging cover last minute is most times impossible. Today I called again, the main man has been off for "a day or two". and the person covering has told me that that supercar clinic is waiting for another part. I asked what that part is, flywheel, throwout bearing? They said they will ask for me and will let me know as soon as possible. They said the car would be hopefully ready next week.

Would you guys/gals have any suggestions. Is this the norm and I should wait it out? I thought once a car goes in, it takes a couple of days.

As you can imagine, i am really looking forward to getting behind the wheels, especially since summer is coming to an end. I am also a very paranoid/neurotic person and worry where my car has been.

Should I hold fire?

Another question, the car has been paid for in full by finance company. Any last minute shenanigans, complications from clutch job, damage, theft, will it likely fall on my shoulders now or finance company can recoup the funds?

I am a motor trade (if it helps), explain your position and that you want a time frame, no iffs no buts, tell them you will lose confidence otherwise and pull out
Thats very helpful Andy. Thank you.

At this stage, do you think i can threaten pulling out as the trader has been paid already by Aldermore a week ago and I have not collected the car yet. Can the deal be reversed? I am not looking at this option at all. Its my dream car and a lot will need to go wrong with the car before I consider that step.

andymc said:
but be aware if you signed the invoice and requested a new clutch fitting you will be on the hook for that if you pull out
Oh yea, of course that bit i would lose. But I didnt sign anything regarding the clutch. I was given invoice for deposit which according to the trader, needed to be paid asap to get the clutch fitted. This was even before the finance was approved.

But looking back, I think i remember the finance documentation stated that there is no cooling off period or right of withdrawal. So in short, I will be ****ed.

TBH I wouldn't be keen to rush them and they end up doing a rush job. When I got my current fun car, it had to go back for some things after a couple of days. I let them take their time to sort it. It then had to go back for some other stuff. Again, I let them take their time.
Thanks hoofy. I think i need to do some mindfulness and get this apprehension under control. I am going to give them a week or so and hope for an update. My first supercar so I should be more patient with it. I need it done properly as well.

By the way,
talk about making a mountain out of mole hill. The part being awaited are the exhaust clamps as they broke whilst removing the exhaust to get to the gearbox. I completely understand now. I need to shut up for now and be patient.

Certainly, the catastrophe thinking isn't helping you!

Just hit YouTube and search "Gallardo track day". That should keep you occupied for a while. biggrin
I will do. I am running out of Gallardo DIY videos on youtube. I have watched everything there is smile
Need to see some track videos now. smile

So you know how to deactivate the exhaust valve, then? biggrin
I do smile . But I am thinking of leaving the connection on or my neighbours would hate me. But I will see how loud it would be. I am guessing after a couple of days i will get acclimatised to the volume and will want more.

True. Maybe those remote valve controllers are the best option after all.
I think i will get that with an aftermarket valved exhaust. Will check if they are compatible with Kline. I had one in my M4.

p4cks said:
Likely they need one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00RM80ZOE/ref=as_li_t...

but obviously they won't be getting the Amazon one, likely a Lambo one.
I am actually happy they will be changing the clamps as I have to install an aftermarket exhaust. It would make it easier to remove the bolts. And I would prefer the amazon ones, should be easier to work with.

At this point in my life, whenever I browse the listings on Autotrader, I'm wondering, "Are you even selling a car? Do you know what you've got on sale?"

E-gear manual? Coupé that's got a cloth roof? Etc. The effort they put into their ads for a premium car is mental.

Edited by Hoofy on Saturday 2nd September 15:38
Yea, very few dealers know anything about the car. You cannot rely on filtering the results at all. Not an easy job trying to find the correct spec car.

Wonder if I can use my knowledge of the cat issue to my advantage when negotiating down. biggrin
I think that would be a reasonable plan as the car will still be on original cats after all these years.

I tried to haggle but the dealer just kept looking at me as if I uttering nonsense. But my business skills are virtually nonexistent. I am sure, many potential customers would have brought this issue up but the dealer would still likely feign ignorance. But I would still use the CAT issue and PPI negotiate the price down.

Agreed with Shnoz,

20k too expensive. Would make a fun project car for someone new to this hobby. But trouble after an engine rebuild says a lot about the quality of the work gone into it. Too many what ifs in my mind. The main question is whether the engine is salvageable. My pessimistic gut feeling is, it isn't.
Who would wrap their pride and joy in that colour?

And either the MOT tester couldn't see or the mileage was clocked back to 30k from 78k.

She is finally home. But what 250+ miles they were. Man its a rough car to drive. Especially in start stop traffic. But I love it. I could hear so many different sounds coming from engine bay behind me, the engine, the exhaust, the egear pump and others. My first drive in a gallardo so will know more about the car in due time. Didn't drive it wot as the cats need to go first. What an experience.

Beautiful, true cars are always agricultural in their nature at low speeds! smile
Thank you. I now understand what that means. There was some start and stop traffic on the motorway for a few miles and god that was a long time. But the drive was still phenomenal. I never pushed the car, except once when someone was signalling and wouldnt let go until i did smile
